De-badged my VRS yesterday

Featured Replies

Looking good mate!

Merry Christmas

Definitely looks better.

I dont really understand why Skoda didnt keep the same badging standard as the MK2's, vRS on the left and Octavia on the right would have been fine......maybe just a vRS on the left even better?

Much cleaner. I was surprised not to see a badge deletion option when ordering tbh.

I wouldn't have removed the Octavia badge

How did you manage to remove the damage without leaving a trace?  Did you have to respray at all?

I've debadged previous cars using dental floss to cut and saw through the adhesive. Then I've picked of the remnants and cleaned up and polished the panel to remove any trace or shadow of the badge.

I've done it on new and old cars like this and never had a problem

Cheers folks. I used dental floss, did it whilst washing the car and the rest of the adhesive just peeled off quite easily. Dental floss and hot water. Glad it's not just me who thinks it looks loads better. It wouldn't have been so bad if the lettering wasn't so big. I think it looked quite cheap.

Noooooo....not my cup tea. :(

Each to their own.

Looks good, but not sure if I would have been bothered as it looks good with them on too.

Ive debadged on previous cars, but I always seemed to see it faintly when its dirty and in certain lighting, regardless of multiple polishing of the area.

Maybe, with your car being new, it won't have bonded on to the paint as much.

Nice car though (and best colour)

Looks loads better ;)

One of the cheapest and easiest things to do.

Had mine debadged at pick up by the dealer. Only used a heat gun and the lettering just came off. Used a cloth with a smidge of petrol in it to clean off the residue. Looks awesome without it, as the O3 has way too many badges at the back.

Case in point:

Yep I agree. I'm keeping the VRS on the boot and grill tho. Just didn't like the lettering of Skoda and Octavia. They were huge.

If the skoda badge on the boot didn't have lugs on it and leave holes that'd be gone too..

Awsome Looking cars guys.

It Looks Way better with the badge's off, would do it to Mine but i'll be swapping it next Year for another VRS- hopefully by then Model deletion will be an Option.

So the dealer will remove the badges? Did you have to ask ahead of time?

Yeh I'm interested in this, is yours on PCP? Is wonder if the dealer will do this for you if it is. I def want this done when I pick up if they will

I know it's a personal thing, but why remove Skoda & Octavia & leave vrs badge. If the idea is to have a clean look then surely that should go as well.

He sure did on mine. I only sat around so he didn't burn a hole through my paint with that heat gun. But since he was able to remove the lettering with his bare hands, it didn't even have to be that hot... Prior to picking the car up I told him that I wanted a number of things (such as no stickers on the car etc). He did want to remove the badges with me there, so there was no discussion in case things went wrong.

PS: Do remember that I'm from Romania. I don't know if UK dealers are as willing to do stuff like this. :)

Because, as others have said, the Octavia and Skoda badges are huge. The VRS logo is tiny and hard to spot for most people. And non-enthusiasts won't have any idea what it stands for anyway. ;)

I'm driving more then 30y and debaged all my cars if possible as 20y ago it was impossible to debage, mounting holes where used to fix the badges.

Never used fishing wire or dental floss but only a hair dryer (now electronic temperature controlled paint stripper) to soften the dubble sided tape, used masking tape as close as possible even under the badge when you pull the badge away not to scratch the paint. When the vRS arrive ALL badges will be removed.

Mine will definitely be coming off having seen this.

Looks so much better.

Did mine straight away, looks much better.

Cheshire is only a few hours away...will drop mine over when it has been delivered so you can get started on that one too.  ;)
