IOS7 jailbreak

Featured Replies

Ios7 jailbreak was released yesterday(finally) anyone done it yet? Im itching to do it but cant get round to it till later on today :(

Have a read of this thread, a huge list of working and non working apps (mostly non working). As long as what you want to achieve with a Jailbreak is working then go ahead, otherwise I would leave it until iOS 7.1 is released.

Everyone opts for Apple then Jailbreaks it, I do not understand. You can get a better device which runs Android as standard and just root it, then do anything you want, with a better device in your hand. Why do people still opt for Apple?

This thread is about the iOS7 jailbreak, I'll not let it turn into another apple versus android thread.

For those of us with Apple devices, this has been long awaited. I may JB my iPhone 5, but I'll be waiting for iOS 7.1 first.

Unfortunately for those with the current devices featuring the A7 processor, very few Cydia apps seems to work due to lacking support for the new CPU.

I did the Jailbreak on my previous iPhone 4 just to give me access to one app. I haven't done my 5 or really thought about it - other than access to apps without having to use the App Store, what are the benefits?

No you can't.

Android certainly is not better than apple...it's just different.

Fair enough wasn't meant to spark a another versus thread.

Oh I wasn't saying that, just meant more of an observation and from a hardware perspective. Anyway, Jailbreak OS7 is the topic otherwise mannyo will beat us with his ban stick and I've heard it's a big one.  :(

Kinda guessed the android boys would jump in lol.

Jailbreaking allows you to make the phone more personal, add personal touches, tweaks, extra features, more user friendly etc...

Of course you can get cracked/pirated apps too but thats the illegal bit of course.

I know this isn't a apple v android thread but I have to reply to this silly post.

The strongest draw of apple is the quality of the hardware, I'll admit there are pluses to android however it is the hardware that let's it down, the samsung S4 is tat compared to the iphone as it keeps breaking, I know at least 4 people at work who's S4's either at random refuse to charge even when plugged in all night, or keep freezing and rebooting them selves and have been for repair several times in the last 12 months. If they could run android on a iphone I would consider it. I'm keeping my eye on HTCs at the minute because they at least seem to be more reliable.

I sincerely apologise if my post was silly. Perhaps I wasn't very clear. But I meant bigger screens etc. where you are quite limited. I've nothing against Apple personally. I have 2 iPads and a mac but I personally don't rate the phones myself.

So that Mannyo doesn't beat me up. I heard about a lot of people having issues with the latest jailbreak did everyone find it okay?

And to reply to an equally silly thread, my cousin is on his 5th,yes 5th iPhone 5s.

The 5c also has an equally poor reliability to the S4.

So let's not start this game again.

From what I remember

2 wouldn't charge

1 had a rainbow screen fault

1 had a microphone fault

1 stuck on Apple logo

Currently living with an issue with the earpiece as well and undecided whether to get replaced or go back to Android with a Nexus 5.

Anyway, jail breaking.....

Must be user error then, I've never known anyone have 5, yes 5 phones fail be then Apple Samsung or HTC.

Btw, my 5 and the wife's 5c are running perfectly! Perhaps you could try and teach your cousin not to break the phones? And if they are that bad why does he keep going back?

Are you serious?

He can't remember the last time he had a phone failure.

Apple have issues too, only the faithful don't /won't accept it, or posts are removed from the official apple forums.

As with anything, search the net and all you'll find are stories of issues.

But the issues and lack lustre sales of the 5c along with Apple regularly removing negative /issue posts is well documented on the media. Imagine if we did that here?

Doesnt matter if its phones, cars, microwaves or sandwich toasters there will always be people who love it and then theres someone whos had a bad experience who makes alot of noise about it.

Anyway, been jailbroke a few days now. The tweaks ive installed are working flawless. Altho tbh the number of tweaks available are limited atm.

As for using android i find using them very stressful. My dad has a windows phone, nokia, very simple(like him) and is the only other phone id consider.

Sorry mate, i'm on my 8th iphone 5.

The first I got on launch day last year, that had a dead pixel, the replacement that the apple store ordered in for me, was chipped to hell when they opened the box so I declinded it and got apple to send me one in the post, the replacement that arrived had a random no sim card inserted error.

The replacement for that, had a screen issue (green haze), the replacement for that, had the exact same issue, they replaced it with another that was chipped down both sides, out of the box. That was replced with another that had a random sim card issue and it also suffered from green haze.

In the end (as this was now 2 months later), apple replaced it with a brand new boxed item (instead of white box replacements) as this meant that I would now have 12 months warranty again.

So the 7th phone turned up, and had scratches and chips on it, but by this point I gave up with trying to get a good handset, apple sent me a free cover for it as a gesture of goodwill, which I didn't want, but atleast it covered the marks.

Anyway that was december last year, and this september the volume down button failed, so they ended up replacing it again, but atleast this 1 didn't have any marks on it out of the box.

Wow! do people really think that Apple or Samung have very different problems?

With all technology problems exist, and they tend to rear their ugly little heads irrrespective of the brands that place their monikers on their shiny little handsets.

I've had many, many mobile hansets over the years. Some better than others, and more recently gone down the Apple route. For no other reason than I found the overall experience a little more cohesive than some other brands.

However, for this Christmas I bought my daughter a Samsung S4 mini. It was a brilliant deal, enough to steer me away from my recent Apple loyalty.

Fast forward to Christmas day - Upon inserting the sim card it showed a 'no sim card inserted' fault. Sim card worked OK in other phones & proved that the phone was duff.

So my conclusion, well after many years of Apple ownership, my first affair with Samsung proved disastrous. Does this mean Samsung have more faults than Apple? Are they not as good? Nah! I was just unlucky. It could quite easily have been the other way round. It will be replaced and life goes on.

I really don't get the polar views of technology. For me anyway I just buy what seems best value at the time, and that changes frequently :)

We'll more fool you, why would anyone put up with receiving so many dodgey phones?

On a plus note, We've had four new iPhones and not one has had an issue and I have never heard of anyone getting new phones with chips and scratches brand new out of a box. Perhaps there's something dodgey about where you're getting them.

I agree 100%, I just get sick of people talking rubbish saying this phones rubbish compared to others etc, I judge on my own experiences of have a galaxy 1 and iPhones, both phones are good I just prefer apple.

Yes very dodgy, all the replacements were direct from Apple themselves :giggle:

I gave up, purely because I got the phone for free via Vodafone, that was the only reason, if I had handed over money for the phone, I would have got a refund and not bothered with the iPhone 5 at all.

For the money Apple charge for there stuff, it should be 100% perfect, the whole experience with the iPhone 5 put me off them now, I never had any issue's with my 3gs, 4s or iPod touch before that. The thing that really annoyed me about it all, was that Apple didn't really seem that bothered about things, they were just happy to keep sending white box replacements out (which are usually refurbs, but as it was still near launch time they were obviously brand new), even when i went to the Apple store the first time to get it replaced and it was damaged, I asked them to swap the screens over as mine was perfect except for a dead pixel, but they refused and said no we will just give this to someone else, as they won't care about a few chips and scratches as it's "only cosmetic".

Because of the amount of issue's and there attitude, I lost faith in Apple and when my iPad mini turned up last year and I turned it on to find a dead pixel, it was returned for a refund straight away and I didn't bother getting an iPad at all in the end.

This year I ordered an iPhone 5s on launch day, when it arrived, the home button wasn't very nice (clicky) so I just returned it for a refund and stuck with my iPhone 5 as it's just not worth the hassle now, if it's not perfect out of the box I just can't be arsed.

When I move on from the iPhone 5 that I have at the moment (as it's now out of warranty), I don't know what i'll replace it with as I don't like the Android OS, and i'm not a Windows phone fan either, but I also can't bring myself to pay Apple's silly prices for something that isn't 100% perfect, i'd like to go back to the best phone ever made (Nokia 6310i) but sadly just 1 or 2 days without a smartphone these days feels like you have had an arm cut off

Working tweaks ive installed so far

Lock screen tool

Browser changer

Dockshift

No page dots

No news is good news

Thanks for dragging this back on topic. Can you give a brief explanation of what a couple of those personalisation features are?

I guess no dots removes the dots used for page markers on the screen.
