More of a XC lad myself, have a Kona Caldera with XT 4-pot discs.

XT 4 pots are the business got them on the DH bike, you've certainly got the XC bike 'over-braked' do you do a lot of endo's?

Disc brakes? on bikes?

You'll be telling me that they've got suspension, next!

Now I know I'm getting old :(

(learned to ride on my sister's hand-me-down Hercules, with sit-up-and beg handlebars, rod brakes, and not a gear in sight)

Aahhhhhhhhhhhhh mountain bikes......

Have me an Orange Clockwork, of 11 yrs vintage with a Royce BB still going strong after 10.5 yrs use. Also have a Marin Rock Springs, with 3.5& 5 inches travel front /rear travel (enough for me) Hope C2 hydraulic disks and is well used.

I carry them around as required with a Pendle 4 bike tow ball mountain rack, very strong and stable even with 4 bikes on it and at speed:D .

Havent raced for a little while, the last being the Red Bull 24 hr a couple of years back, but have been in 2 mags with club rides to France.

Cheers

Andy

ps..sorry to divert from the start topic.

I went for the hatch, I have a wheel support rack for the bike, the boot gets filled with spares, tools & camping gear!

Yeh, I'm in the Vet category and it's a Santa Cruz V10 with 8" Hydr disc brakes, 10" rear travel, 7.5" front travel.

ffelan, where or what is Whalley nab?

I race in the Scottish Series and the National Points Series but we're always on the lookout for places to train & play. We usually go to Nantmawr, Nannerch or up to Innerleithen to train plus Coppull BMX track for jumping practice!

Oh yeah Nantmwar Quarry !! (Or if I remember Nightmare Quarry after the first or Second NPS a few years ago with all the flooding !!), have raced there. Not raced for a few years (Last big race was the Worlds in Chateau D'Oex in '97 when Snapped my Cruciates & tore my Co-Latteral Ligaments - 10 Points for the Scar !!).

Current bikes are a Marin Mount Vision Pro & a Giant AC Team as a "Play Bike".

What Forks are you running on the Cruz to get 7.5" ??

Graham

Nah, you want a proper mountain bike like mine... a Specialized Epic Disk, the one with the 'brain'. Mind you i'm still alwys the slowest rider i know. Ho hum.

I have the four pots for feel and modulation.

Either that or it was because *everyone* I ride with has hope minis! Just trying to be different. :)

Nice bike by the way. Rode a Heckler and a Blur a couple of months ago. My wallet and my 13 years of Konas are in jepordy.

Yeh I raced that NPS one also - rain, snow, sleet - what an excellent day. Everyone was having a nightmare then Peaty just flew down and blew everyones time to pieces!!!

They're RS boxxers, actually have 8" full travel, but they have that 0.5" of negative travel to stop full extension spikes, so you only get 7.5" of suspended travel.
