radiator fan stayed on even after turning off the car?

Featured Replies

Oh, and apologies but for some reason the 'post' button is not working for me at present, and when I go to the 'More reply options' button (the only way that works), it gets rid of all my paragraphs, and bundles it all together. Hence my extremely difficult to read post, just above.

Hopefully im allowed to say that, and it isnt going to be taken as me slagging off my new car.

Sorry Neil. The website at the moment doesnt like me. I have to go through the back door to post the message. It does it to me every now and again for some reason. The odd button doesnt work.

Anyone had a dpf light yet that wasn't down to a fault but a blocked dpf?

Post overload?

Dont know what it is.

Gorgeous.... i cant stop rubbing, its so smooth.

I won't quote the whole of "post of the week" but this section did make me giggle!

Nice one Matt. Selective quoting is always a good way of making things sound worse!! Post of the week? More like 'most breathless post of the week'. I would go back in and edit it, putting the paragraphs back in, if the site would allow me to press the 'edit' button. Looks like the site is trying its best to restrict me. Perhaps ive complained about my car too much!!

temporarily locked

James, sorry if I missed any of your positive posts, I stand corrected.  A friend of mine has the Jag XF, the SV8 to be precise and even as long term fan of the Octavia, they just ain't in the same league.  Regards the lock down, you may wanna give the sarcasm a miss, it don't always read good, this is not a criticism, just a pointer I've picked up in a few other forums.

The only other time I've ever experienced the radiator fan staying on, was when I had a low air-con gas pressure sensor failure on my Mk2, the fans cycled on and off continually, flattened the battery on a TDI in about 5 hours, no amount of fuse pulling would stop the fans.

Regards

T

Any owner of an Octy 3 1.6tdi 2.0tdi vrs tdi had a dpf warning light come on yet? If so after how many miles and what type of journeys had you recently been doing? At the moment I'll assume no one although I know that can't be the case.

I have asked this before but repeating it in case it was lost in the lockdown shenanigans.

I haven't, didn't in my mkII vRS either in 44k miles, that's with a 5 miles drive each way to work.

They seem to regen quite happily without causing any problems. Ive had 2 obvious regens in less than 700 miles. First one it seems as though i interrupted by switching the engine off, but there were no problems. Second one happened whilst pottering around town. I went for a good run down the motorway afterwards to make sure it completed happily.

My 2.0TDi has done 13.5K now, no DPF lights and only once that I am aware of that I have interrupted a passive regen.

It did seem to do more passive regens when running on cheap supermarket diesel, but that might just be my perception. This was indicated by the usual unavailability of start/stop and the confusing message that start/stop is unavailable as the engine needs to be running.

Its good to hear that no one has reported a dpf warning light yet, the only reason I ask is that alot of people use the dpf as a major factor in avoiding buying a diesel and maybe it isn't really such a big issue in the Octy 3, even for those who do their fair share of shorter journeys.
