Who hasnt had DPF problems

Featured Replies

So, i obviously read lots of DPF horror stories before deciding to buy my CR VRS. Ofcourse on internet forums you generally only hear of people having issues so I thought I would ask if how many people on here have never had the DPF light come on..

Im generally sat on the motorway pootling along at 70mph with the cruise control on for about 30 mins a day with about a couple of miles of busy traffic either side. Im hoping i wont have a DPF issue and am just wondering who else has never had a problem.

At about 24k miles now and never had the DPF light on (touching wood as I type!)

90% of journeys are motorway though.

I ve an 11plate vrc its a taxi done 30000 mls in it not had a prob yet with dpf touch wood I do alot of local work plus a lot of motor way wrk allways take it to 70 on motorway to give it a wee blast .love the car only downside its a bit to hard of a ride compared to my superb.

I had a 2008 PD170 vRS for 34,000 miles / 2 years. never had a DPF light issue, but I did drive it hard, so more than likely performed many regens very easily. Brilliant car, should never had sold it.

2 years and 20k on a 140CR with loads of stupidly short journeys and decent blasts most weekends - no issues so far

I have a june 2008 cr diesel vrs. never had the dpf light. And most of the approx 8500 miles are year are done in town with the odd blast to Aberdeen and Inverness, or a trip down the A9 to see the family. I Dont Know if this makes a differance, 90% of the time i use Shell or branded fuel?????

I had two faulty sensors in the first 30,000 mile but then did another 50,000 without issue , never had the light on in that time

15k miles in a 140pd Scout often used for short runs and haven't seen the light on yet. I've felt the regen a couple of times though. Been using Uliimate for the last year as I get a 6p a litre discount.

I have had problems with engine oil level increasing though so I'm doing an intermediate oil change. Pretty sure ill have a PDF delete sometime in the future.

Mark

I can't comment on Skoda, but I had a Vectra 1.9CDTI (16v) for several years & 45k miles used mainly by the wife (think driving Miss Daisy) for shortish town journeys with the very occasional long run. The DPF & EGR were about the only two things that I didn't have any problems with on that car.

Me. Probably don't have one.

No problems for me either.

None at all

The PD engine was the problematic one.

As long a you are not doing lots & lots & of short journeys you should be ok. Sensible general rule to follow is , if you are doing any less than 18k per year, then go petrol.

I have a CR vRS, with approx 14k on the clock & it will be 2 years old on Dec & had no issues.

20k miles in two years - daily school runs, regular traffic congestion and a couple of motorway blasts a month - no lights and a couple of regens. No worries. I mainly use Shell Fuelsave and V-Power if I'm feeling flush.

I've had a few DPF issues but this turned out to be a faulty sensor.

Touch wood all has been well since.

As mentioned earlier the later CR engines are fitted with a different DPF than the one on the PD engines (the CR' DPF has an inbuilt catalyst that keeps the DPF hotter for longer) so far less issues on the CR.

I have absolutely no sign of any soot or carbon deposits at all on my tailpipes..Never have had

I hope this is a good sign

Absolutely no problems at all with my previous 2010 CR. 30k in 2 1/2 years and I couldn't even tell you what the light looks like!!

Have a 2yr old vrs estate, with 11k. It is not used as a town car. No sign of PDF to date. I am a pretty steady driver see days, so rarely give it some real beans.

This means the DPF is catching it all, the question is now it has caught and stored it is it regenerating and burning it off!

Just about to reach 70,000 miles from new on a 59 plate CR vRS and apart from a faulty DPF sensor, which does seem to be a common problem on the CR, but was quickly replaced under warranty, never had a squeak from the DPF. I do about 25k miles a year though, mostly motorway. If I only did say 10k a year I'd have bought the petrol version.

5 cars with DPF and no lights ever in approx 200,000 miles between them. My PD170 has done over 50k and my PD140 has done 30k. Most journeys are over 10 miles though.

Had a PD Scout for 3.5 years and 50k miles with regular short journeys and never had a problem with the DPF.

If ever there was the kiss of death then you asking this question is surely that!

With a petrol then your certain to have no DPF probs at all?

No.....instead you can look forward to the "engine going bang" according to recent posts on this forum.
