That's a 17 year old's dream -looks like that and insurable. Could be the start of a whole new industry 

Don't joke, when I was 17/18 I was at school with a girl whose boyfriend had an 80s RX-7:

 

Bearing in mind some of these were quite quick and had rotary turbo engines, I got talking to him one day and discovered it had an A Series engine out of a Metro fitted to it. The Metro's exhaust was just hidden from view under the rear valance and the remains of the original exhausts were still mounted in place.

I saw this Qashqai R at Autosport at the weekend. Up close, it looks somewhere between factory and not quite right. I think quite a lot of modification was done to the dash to get it all to fit properly and, whilst it looks good, to me it just wasn't 100%. Not that you'd be paying much attention as the outside world went past at light speed. Still got a properly useable boot, although it would have been funny to see it with a standard rear bench and the third row of drop down seats.

Shame they ruined a GTR by sticking a Kumquat on top..... I don't get the fascination with the QQ that the UK public seems to have.

So, CrashQai... bit like the Joke...

I really like it. They're well put together, plenty of room and plenty of kit and the 1.5 DCI is pretty good too.

Would I buy one? Maybe if they did a 2.0T I'd consider it - I wouldn't have a Juke Nismo because it's too small and I think that 1.6T is probably close to the limit of what sort of power you can squeeze out of them.

And its 2 weeks into 2014 so that doesn't really say much. Colleague had a 1.5DCi one, fairly well specced and owned from new. No end of problems with it. Neighbours with an '09 plate one (brought last year with 30 something thousand on it) broke down within 3 days of them getting it. 

 

The newer shape one does look nicer but the early ones are just a blob on stilts. But then I don't get why people want a soft-roader versus a decent estate (other than if you live in the sticks and actually make use of the ground clearance and the 4WD)

I think that actually looks quite good, I absolutely hate Quish quash koi's or however you spell it but my god that's some Q car.

I'd love explaining the modifications to my insurance company though!
