Am I really at the back of the queue?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

This is my first post so far on here so, 'Hello.'

I ordered my TDI Octavia vRS on 21st December 2013 with the following options:

Race blue

Leather (red trim) and heated seats

Heated windscreen and nozzzles

Cruise control

Black pack

Colubus

Canton

Sunset Glass.

At the time the dealer said that there would be a 16-18 weeks wait, after reading on here Im expecting it to be at least 24 weeks (If im lucky). Im off camping in Cornwall in June so ideally need it before then.

I've been reading about all the excuses that the dealers have come up with but cant helping thinking that a muli national company should be doing more to help their customers?

If I were in charge of suppling the lane assist cameras to Skoda and their demand outspripped my supply I'd doing everything in my power to increase my output, at the fear of Skoda going elsewhere; the same can be said for the other 'excuses' that the dealers are using.

If the factories were just overwhelmed with the demand then surely the factory staff would be operating on a 24hours shift pattern to increase output. Im sure the long wait for cars will put potential new buyers off and the possibility that customers with cars ordered will cancel and go elsewhere. Surely it must be in Skoda's interest to build and ship the cars faster?

So my theory is that the delivery dates are all going to be revised and moved forwards once Skoda get their act together (maybe this is just wishful thinking! )

I ordered mine on 23rd December so I am behind you lol

The one thing I dont want them to do is start rushing the production of the cars ... this can lead to quality issues.

I would rather they keep quality on track, well certainly for my VRS anyway !

I should expect you would have it by June, but then a lot can happen between now and then!

If you order a brand new car which is a new model, 20 weeks is a reasonable time to wait (I've been quoted much worse).  My car is likely to take around 20 weeks after ordering in November, and if anything lead times *should* in theory get shorter.

In Skoda's defence, they probably have done everything to keep up with demand, but it's not always that simple.  The delay also gives you a chance to revise your order and select the correct colour.

I remember walking into a Nissan garage when I bought my current Alfa (March 2011) and asking how long a factory order 370Z would take.  After enduring about ten minutes of everybody laughing, they kindly asked if I watched the news...  This was just weeks after tsunami in Japan.  Whoops....

So it's not always the manufacturer's fault....

I'm on week 18... car just docked in the UK

It be another 2 weeks or so before I be driving it.... :wonder:

I reckon I'm behind you guys with an order date of the 28th Dec but, I gone for the 1.4 TSI DSG Elegance without to many extras so, I'm predicting mine arriving some 3 or 4 weeks before yours.

There, gauntlet down, anyone up for a friendly beer wager ?.

I ordered my manual 1.4 TSI Elegance on the day before you with sunset glass, heated seats and a spare wheel. Want to bet who gets theirs first?

Absolutely Wedge you're on, dunno for what but, it'll be fun anyway.

Mine is Pacific Blue (solid colour) with crew protection, bootnet & a spare wheel, order mine from City Skoda of Basingstoke.

They cut me a great deal so, I'm reckoning they were nowhere near their quota for the month which, could be the biggest difference between our delivery times otherwise, I can't see any of our options being a delaying issue maybe, my crew protect being a bit rarer than your glass or seats but I don't really know, I havent heard of any of them being an excuse used by dealers.

Where did you order yours from, go on, tell its Alex Lawrie, they've gotta be over quota every month with their prices.

Blade Skoda in Gloucester. They were really busy, so I'm sure they have no trouble filling their quotas.

Reminds me, I should give them a ring for an update. They originally said "March"

Hmmmm.. City Skoda had only one other customer while we were in ordering, might be a tad on the keen side calling them already Wedge, I was e-mailed the following process of events:-

"What will happen-

Build weeks takes 2-3 weeks to be allocated depending on season and high demand of Octavia’s

When I have been allocated a build week I will contact you and advise you off estimated dates (These can change)

There then will be a period until the vehicle gets to production when this happens I will get in contact.

As soon as the vehicle is built it then get’s queued for shipping at ‘Port of Exit’ that then takes a further 2-3 weeks to get to the U.K

When it has arrived at ‘Port of UK Exit’ it will then await a transport order, when a transport order has been raised that then take a couple of days.

As soon as the vehicle has been loaded we try to allow 2-3 days for the vehicle to arrive with us.

When the vehicle has arrived we allow a turn around of at least 24 hours to get the car ‘Pre Delivery Inspected’ and then we arrange collection."

Hi all I'm a newbe here to but been reading the site for last few weeks.

Orderd my Skoda Octavia mk3 on the last weekend of September last year (Peston Motors)

Elegance Estate

1.6 Diesel

DSG Box

Silver

Winter Pack

Mud Faps

Rear Bumper protector

And ACC

Columbus

Informed of about 12 weeks build time.

Told the following week that Front Assist and thus' for ACC had been removed from the menu :-(

This then changed to , ok then you can have the front assist as standard but no ACC

So swapped ACC for park assist and also added Sunset Glass.

Had a confrmation of week 51 build and my new motor arrived at the dealers on Monday 6th Jan. Will be behind the wheel on Saturday only 15 weeks wait.

Is my Elegance one of the last to have Front Assist fitted ?

Colin1961, I ordered my 1,4 TSI Estate manual in the end of October, with Front assist included - and still no build week.

The Dealer says the delay is due to the Front assist option.

I got mine from Alex Lawrie and would be very happy to hear they are way over quota and have platinum super chromium status with Skoda that will boost my car up the production line.

Can't see it somehow, especially as this is Skoda factory and not even in the hams of SUK.

Hello Balanoff

I noted that you are in Bulgaria and this reply relates to GB but should be the same situations that we are in regarding moving goal posts and VW !!!!

GB spec' Skoda Octavia Elegance's have/ did have Front Assist as standard and I tryed to add ACC on to this, as one needs the other to work but have ended up with only Front Assist and no ACC!

"As of week 39 [w\e 29th September '13] Adaptive Cruise Control and Front Assistant were being serverly delayed and as a result of this the factory have informed us to notify customers that orders taken within or after this week they will not be producing vehicles with the aforementioned items." this is direct from a skoda salesman.

Had a e-mail from my Skoda salesman in the last week of October to inform me that the VW computer would still not let them add ACC but my car would be built with Front Assist.

My Elegance was built Wk 51, and was at the dealers on Monday 6th January and I collected my car on Saturday 11th January. It's now nice and mucky and in need of its first bath and not a week old!!

As for delays in ordering to build week and delivery mine was only 15 weeks until I drove my Elegance. I have heard that Skoda FRS's and VW Golf GTI's can be up to half a years wait if you add some toys onto your order.

As for front Assist, it as yet to cut in so is it worth it, the drury is out on that one but it is very low down and no front cover so could be damaged by stones etc.

Hope you hear soon about your new Octavia and that this is some help.

Colin.
