01435 00778 and 01423 Fault Errors all arrived at once

Featured Replies

Dear All,

After 6 problem free years my 72000 mile Skoda (2007) has developed an unusual fault.

I made a short journey this morning, then around lunchtime, got in the car and started it and 3 warning lights appeared on : the steering wheel, the traction esp and tyre monitor warning lights.

Then drove for a bit and the steering wheel warning light went out

Diagnostics give the following:

1) 01435 - Brake pressure sensor (G201)

no or incorrect basic setting

2) 00778 Steering angle sensor (G85)

no or incorrect basic setting

3) 01423 lateral acceleration sensor (G200)

no or incorrect basic setting

And last but not least

4) 01135 interior monitoring sensors

no signal/communication

Are these linked, what is the best way forward? why did the steering wheel warning light go out?

(I still have the tyre pressure and ESP light on), but neither the esp , nor tyre pressure button near  the gearbox work.

Any help gratefully received.

All best,

Neil

Don't worry about 4, the others all look to relate to the abs unit. Have a look at the Ross Tech Wiki for other three.

Does Anyone know of a good independent garage in /near Bedfordshire that could deal with this one?

  • Author

Thanks Trundlenut,

Is the abs unit the same thing as the  teves mk 60 unit?

Also are the errors relating to

a) 00778 Steering angle sensor (G85)-no or incorrect basic setting

B)  01423 lateral acceleration sensor (G200) - no or incorrect basic setting

linked to the abs unit?

All the best,

Background:my regular garage looked at it yesterday evening- been dealing with these great guys for 20 odd years, and they were so confused by the results that they asked me to do some research.

As I understand it, they can buy a kit, but does anyone know where to buy it from? or should they go for a repair from a place like ecutesting?

All the best,

Neil

Dear All,

Thanks for all your help

Well the garage got round to looking at it yesterday. The got a SKODA repair kit for the ABS unit . They repaired the ABS unit and guess what : the error codes wont clear. Now we are just down to the following 3:

1) 01435 - Brake pressure sensor (G201)

no or incorrect basic setting

2) 00778 Steering angle sensor (G85)

no or incorrect basic setting

3) 01423 lateral acceleration sensor (G200)

no or incorrect basic setting

The VW expert that they double checked with says it could be water ingress, so it has been suggested I drive the car for a month - let it dry out and then try and reset the codes again.

Has anyone else had the same issue?

All best

Is the new unit correctly coded and basic settings done?

Cheers trundlenut - They said "There is nothing to code , the electrical part does not change", but i will double check

That doesn't sound right. I thought the whole mk60 Teves issue was that the electrics failed.

There is a how to on here which suggests basic settings may be required.

Check those faults again on the Ross tech wiki.

Oh , so replacing the brake pressure sensor was a waste of time?

What did they actually change?

Is there any chance your battery has gone flat or been disconnected recently?

skoda repair kit : 1ko698517b

1 they unbolted the ecu and

2) then bolted on the old ecu to the new kit

But has your battery gone flat Neil, prior to these codes becoming apparent and the warning lights coming on?

Ok, got round to doing some reading on this. The bulk of the electronics are separate and aren't touched but the faulty sensor is in the section which is replaced.

Barring any battery issues then it may be that basic setting is needed for the G201 sensor.

The idea that water has got into to something is not good. Waiting and see if it dries out is not a good idea, more like wait and see if something corrodes and knackers the electronics.

I suppose what I am getting around to saying is that, I had to do a complete set of adaptations on an 8P S3 that had all of these fault codes after the battery went dead and was replaced.

G201 is usually the Teves 60. when it went on mine I got the three ABS related lights but no other errors other than an unrelated ABS sensor mechanical error (the rusty ring problem).

Nothing like your other ones.

if you have changed part of the pump then you do need to do basic setting

Cheers All, FYI: battery did not go flat before issue. Garage are doing basic settings this afternoon.

Dear all, problem fixed. After reprogramming all was ok.Thankyou all for yr time.

As soon as I saw 01435 I thought the dreaded G201 pressure sensor failure, it used to mean replacement of the whole ABS unit at a cost of around £1500 until the repair kit came out, found this link to a previous thread about this                                                                                                                    http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/190784-how-to-repair-espabs-fault-with-vag-repair-kit/?hl=%2Bg201+%2Breplacement#entry2505291

hope that helps.

Ian

Just seen your latest post, glad that all is well again.

That is a big difference - all in about £350 , and once again thanks everyone. I saw the Octavia III vrs on the way to work Today and I thought .... Now that looks nice and would 'hopefully' be problem free. Oh well I can but dream !

Ummmmm...........

Well after picking the car up late Wednesday and checking that the tyre pressure button and the ESP button both worked, I felt relieved - the tyre pressure button made the familiar beep and the ESP button switched the skid light on and off on the dash. There were no warning lights on the dash and the garage assured me all faults had cleared.

All seemed ok......................

However..............................................

After driving back tonight in some horrendous conditions, the skid dash light did not flicker on once , but I can still switch the ESP on and off  and there are no warning lights

The garage has closed for the weekend, so I cant ring them at the mo.

But does anyone have any ideas?

After driving back tonight in some horrendous conditions, the skid dash light did not flicker on once

Were you expecting it to?

I have to misbehave to get my ESP to kick in (and flash the light on the dash).
