SEAT Leon Cupra pics, specs and pricing released

Very true!!

Don't fancy paying near £30k for a seat tho.

you will end up paying about £25k

And still be worth about 9k after 3 years lol

Looks nice spec

Very nice spec indeed. Would definitely have liked a matching set of that lot on a VRS!

Maybe I should under one of those and see which turns up first, it or the Vrs!

No ST version either, maybe its coming though.

I guess compared to a Golf GTi it represents half reasonable value but its not good value for a Seat. Also Id argue that the GTi is the better looking of the two; Seats in my opinion always try too hard to be attractive with their edgy designs (possibly their attempts to be the VAG groups Alfa Romeo) and I dont think they are wholly successful.

If the old Leon Cupra and Cupra R is anything to go by will depreciate v badly too.

....also interestingly neither the 265 or 280hp versions (if PH is to be believed) gain any more torque over a regular 220hp motor.....whilst they are quicker on paper makes me wonder how much quicker they will actually "feel" on the road with no apparent torque output advantage.

My guess is this has been done to ensure the Golf R and S3 with 280lb/ft maintains its legs against one of these. Perhaps also the 220/230/265 and 280hp versions all share a smaller turbo than the 300hp version?

Like most mainstream cars

I don't know how manufacturers add 20Hp to an engine without any increase in torque.

Or even how the 2.0 TDI went from 140 to 150Hp without a single torque gained.

But 5.9 secs 0-62 on the top model Cupra is really impressive for a family hatchback.

Thankfully not. Seats usually depreciate worse than the average to be honest. Not helped when most people spending near £30k won't spend it on a seat.

Shame the octy doesn't get some of the options

My cupra depreciated slightly less than my octavia vrs ,owned both for the same time scale and were both about the same age and roughly the same milage when sold on,oh and i quite like the look of it, it's growing on me,wasn't sure to start with.

I think it is a really good looking car and all the extras it comes with above a Vrs make it more desirable. Skoda have made a mess with the rear of the MK3 Octavia and the brand really needs something like Seat are doing power wise or at least be able to order the performance extras.

It's definately moved up the list when replacing my MKII Vrs especially if Seat continue with a decent Mil discount.

Ive always wanted a mad hot VRS in limited edition to become available, in theory it could be based straight on the new golf R mqb chassis!

Seats to me tho have never felt quite the same as skodas! ...... Personal opinion tho!

I bought a Cupra K1 in white with black wheels (awesome car BTW) for 19K new, ran it for 3 years and sold for 13K. Least deprecation of any car I've owned (RX-8 new in 2004, 24K - 8K trade in 4 years later  :o   , didn't stop me from recently buying another one though  :)  )

being offered from £16995 tax free (approx £21K tax paid) on the net already...

mmm that is one ugly car.

Hmmm thats not so bad TBF. Maybe being a special edition helped?

RX8's are notoriously bad depreciators mainly because they go wrong more often than not and finding a reliable one is quite a challenge. The ****el Rotary engine is still quite novel but still not robust enough to provide reliable motoring.

I bought a Candy White GTI Edition 30 (Most factory options included) around 3 years ago for £11.5K, kept it for 16 months (12K miles) and sold it for £12.7K, depreciation........pah I laugh in your face....

Suppose that makes up for the £2k in 1 year that I will have lost on my 3 series Touring

To put things into perspective, if the worst happens in the RX-8 and the engine needs a rebuild then it''so around 2k for a rebuild and effectively a new engine. All the other bits are cheap as chips as is the servicing. Worth it for the looks / handling.

At 20mpg I wouldn't be running it as an only car though...

Quite liked the look of it, but depreciation and higher initial cost mean Lease rates are higher, Will be very happy with the VRS thanks

Hi Miles

Tbh you bought the ED30 for a very good price, so were on to a winner from the start.

are you getting a Skoda now?

Hey Eddie, hows Yarmouth treating you mate?.

Yes I did get a good price on the ED30 when I bought it and also a decent price when I sold it (Think I sold at right time, was only up for sale a few days and 1st viewer bought it), he drove from London down to St Ives (Cornwall) to buy it (I Moved down here in August 2012).

Yes I have ordered an Octavia VRS TDI DSG Combi.

Decided to lease for 2 years and then decide what I want in 2 years time, If I still like the car I will make the supplying dealer an offer

I expect by then you will be doing lots of retro-fits on Octavia 3's

Am I right in thinking your in an Octavia VRS?

***Edit*** Just noticed your sig!, yes you are :drunk:

Couldn't see the new model on car wow but will keep an eye open to see what deals they can cut.

Delivery time could be key here...

True but a 2k motor rebuild on a car probably not worth a great deal more.....in the realms of whether it'd be worthwhile to do so.

Also once rebuilt given by their very nature even the best ones wouldnt typically deal with huge mileages without running into problems id be worrying when do I need to spend another 2k.

I think there are other cars you can buy for similar money that offer similar performance without that concern....thinking Civic Type R, MK5 Golf GTi (which with a remap would lunch even the 231ps model in a straight line) old shape Audi S3 and others....admittedly not rwd though.
