I'd love to comment on that, but it would seem that the consensus is that, as a staff member, I'm not actually entitled to an opinion.

Anyway, 3 weeks holidays for me now, be good whilst I'm away.

this is a public forum, and everybody should be entitled to express there opinion...but it does seem[/i'] that if you disagree with this lad, he gets a bit too stroppy a bit too quickly

Nobody disagreed with him, they dismissed his story as bulls*it. Who can blame him if he gets stroppy. Same old faces from the Octavia camp every time. I sometimes feel that the Fabia owners are only here for ridiculing.

Not having read back through every post, i dont think anyone suggested that you shouldnt have an opinion, just that perhaps a bad example was being set.

Enjoy your hols.

170bhp, 150lbft, 1250Kg, RWD and made for tracks.

it would take a very good fabia to beat it with the same driver with the same agenda.

I agree with what you are saying Bengie, but surely what you are saying is not relevant to Mils undeserved slagging.

He wasn't on a track, and he said himself he kept taking the guy by suprise and thought it funny.

Totally undeserving of the relentless barrage of abuse imo.

Anyway, I thought Z4's were made for hairdressers.:P

To be fair though, he didn't say he beat a racedriver who was out in his Z4 ripping up the highway on his day off. He said he beat this particular person in a Z4, I don't see why that's not possible. Some BMW drivers cant drive. SOme wont push their car as it's a lot to lose. I got ****ed off as a 330d zoomed off infront of me the other day, but as I don't want to do 70 down a 30mph limit road in the centre of town I didn't try and keep up.

I think you could at least cut Mil some slack. No need to rip the P*** immediately.

personal i didn't see a 'barrage of abuse' just people having a joke and mil getting wound up(no offense mil).

mil has said himself(see my quote of him from the other day) that he can get wound up quick and fabia drivers taking it as a personnal dig at all fabia's ever.

not that i care whilst driving my slow van round delivering fish tanks :P

Well I drive an octavia , but it's an ordinary diesel one so there is no VRS bias at all.

I just find it *very* hard to believe that a Z4 being driven by someone who wanted to make progress couldn't keep up with a 120 bhp furby , either round corners or on a straight.

The whole thing sounded highly fishy , jon said as much and mil chucked the rattle.

sorry to rock the apple cart but I actually beat a Fabia vrs off the lights in nothing other than a BMW 320d - I know this might sound unrealistic but having seen the banter on hear from the Fabia vrs drivers who have beat "scud missiles" etc of off the mark I thought this might cause a bit of a shock !!!.

PS who ever he was he drove like a proper norb and over took on a set of double white lines just to prove how fast his car was. It's a dam shame the camera van that parks up near The Hut on the A60 (Mansfield - Nottingham) wasn't there to show their appreciation with 3 points and £60 fine.

PPS If anyone has got a briskoda sticker and sees a silver grey bmw flash them it's me I'm allways on the look out for other members

well, i've really not been around here that long and this isn't the first time i've seen this sort of reaction from the guy...and to be fair, everything else being equal, how likely is it that a 2.0 Fabia would properly do a 2.2 Z4?

I don't like to see all this aggro between Octy owners and Fabia owners. I am an Octy VRS owner but I do like Fabias - I'd have one if I didn't need more room in the boot. Next thing you know there's going to be separate Briskoda sites for Octys and Fabias! Whats going to happen when the new Octy VRS comes out? Will we have the knives out for them too?

This site used to be praised for its friendliness and helpfulness so lets not lose that - its what Briskodas famous for!

Octy, Fabia, Felicias, Superbs, even Pick Ups - they're all Skodas :grouphug:

I'll get me coat now!

Derek

Just wait until there is a choice of petrol or diesel in the new Octy VRS

It appears that there was a bit of wind up and bite here. :(

Possibly a bit of a misunderstanding of personalities & possibly bad day.

I agree with the statement that even a Mod is allowed a personal opinion, otherwise we would have impersonal programs moding the site.

We are a grown up community, that have a our bad days and personality clashes, and fortunately have VERY FEW of these instances.

Apologies have been profered, accepted and I believe this should put an end to the topic.

If anyone believes that there is a fishermans tale being told, then those that think it should be allowed to express, but whoever puts this type of comment forward, should be prepared for banter on the site, regardless of whether it is Fruby or BMW baiting.

Be honest, if there is personal attack or abuse of anyone posting, then it should be reported immediately.

Please could this be the end of this thread and closed off ?

Still one of the best sites around no matter what car you own - Not had the Octavia for a year now but log on every day !

I drive a BMW - With the added option of a courtious driver and indicators

Are we done yet?

I'm with Steve - just close this thread please.

Enough emotion in here for several more bhp no doubt... :(

is it a z4

Nite all - sleep peacefully!

Off the subject...

I got a good pasting by a 320d, but it was a very smokey AMD tuned one... Im sure it would be pretty close (ish) 0-60 if both were standard... but who buys a diesel for 0-60 times?

Thread closed, after various requests.

NEXT COMMENT IS A JOKE!!!!

I'd have got round to it quicker if I had a Fabia :D
