Apparantly, there was an oil leak and it dripped down onto the exhaust and ignited. The fuel tank then went up causing the explosion. I imagine it got a bit warm after a bit of a blast round the track!

It's okay it's on french plates.

It always saddens me to see a nice car on fire... and even cars that aren't so nice too.

Regardless of badge, the Clio V6 is a mental car, and deserves massive respect. However its obviously someones pride of joy, and the poor sod must be gutted.

The "open the boot and doors" tactic never really works though does it. Might as well poor a couple of gallons of fuel over it...

I can't begin to imagine how gutted I'd be if mine caught fire... :(

Note how the door at the end is a normal clio door and it was just a massive piece of plastic used to get the shape which has obviuosly melted..

Loads of it is plastic.

Attended a few 'incident' with these at various events and the plastic bits alway fall off or are left hanging on by a thread.

Agree here. Best thing that could happen to a Renualt in my opinion. Good job no-one was hurt though.
