2003 fabia elegance 1.9Tdi faulty bonnet switch causing wiper problem

Featured Replies

Hi all, my intermittent wiper developed a fault (normal wipers and wash wipe works fine but totally lost intermittent wipe plus the indicator lights stopped flashing when I remotely locked the car up with the key) I traced the problem to a cracked bonnet latch microswitch. I've sprayed the switch with copious amounts of wd40 and they are now working, but for how long who knows.

There are 2 wires going into the switch. Can I cut these 2 wires, connect them together and short the bonnet switch out so the wiper circuit thinks the bonnet is always closed or are there any special components (ie resistors, rectifiers etc) built into the plastic housing of the switch?

Any and all advice is welcome

I also created a second problem in that when I was checking the fuses I must have inadvertently caused a fault code to read on the airbag system and the airbag warning light is now lit. I have ordered a scanner to see what Fault code it is and to reset the same, has anyone any advice PLEASE.

Many thanks in anticipation

Regards

Graham
