FL Orders log results

Today was the day to collect the Yeti. However DVLA's AFRL registration system was down, so no Yeti registration possible. Apparently a national issue. :(

Car is being delivered Monday with full tank of fuel as way of compensation by the dealer.

Having taken it for a brief test drive as part of the acceptance, I can confirm the sports seats are well worth the extra and come with lumbar adjustment.

This is just like when i ordered my OctyFL2 vRS, there is absolutley no logic to allocation of build dates.

My order should go in on Monday as the system was down today L&k 1.8 only extra will be Kessy & spare wheel,  & GSMIII, but might remove this if voice activation comes as std.

Can anyone pm me with what you get in the L&K as part of Bluetooth GSM II - do you get the voice activation with this or is it only part of the GSMIII ?

I have no idea of the subtleties of GSM II vs GSM III but Bluetooth seems to be standard on my SE (dealer told me this was an unexpected plus of the F/L).

Paired my ancient phone today and voice commands are part of the system - stern lady telling me she didn't understand. The phone book appears on the Bolero screen and the phone can be controlled from the steering wheel switches.

Not sure if this helps but seems that I have some form of GSM as part of the F/L upgrade - i didn't pay for it!

Someone else may recognise what level of GSM I have and describe it better.

Edit: this thread might help:

g6zru and Truthseeker,

I originally ordered a factory fit bar as £450 was a bargain. I was then told the electrics would not offer "Full functuality", that means the battery in caravan etc would not be charged. I was allowing an extra £150 for this to be done, thinking the dealer could do the job. The dealer said the extra wiring was not available to order as an official Skoda part and as such they could not do the extra required. I got Skoda UK involved who are not happy with the continuing towbar farce, with both Yetis and Octavias. The garage offered a full dealer fit of removeable swan-neck, bumper cut out and panel, full 13 pin electrics, re-program ecu/electrics etc for £700+. I could get a mobile fitter to do the job, without panel for £550+. I asked the dealer to get back with a firm price, and £700 was the answer. I was told £920 was the full price. Phoning other dealers brought in quotes of up to £990. I pushed the dealer to include a deal on roofbars and boot liner, and then agreed the £700. At this point the price is not as bad as it sounds, as the dealer has yet to realise that although he has removed the factory fit bar from the order, he has not removed the discount on the item. If I take into account this, along with the discount on roofbars and boot liner the set-up is probably costing about £630.

Colin,

That price is crazy, even with the deal on the roofbars!!

Re the additional wiring for the caravan fridge and battery charging they are almost right about. It is not included in the standard wiring kit as it is only the UK that use this system, and to be honest in my 30 years of caravaning I've never found it totally effective There certainly used to be a loom available from Skoda for this, but whether it is still available on the F/L I don't know.

I'm still in a state of disbelief on modern towbars and electrics costs. However, if you look on other manufacturers sites the costs we pay are not out of the norm.

In my earlier years I fitted bar and single electrics to two of my Renaults and two Volvos without problem. Modern electrics meant I have since gone for dealer fit bar and twin electrics on a subsequent Renault[not a good buy]and present VW. With the exception of an unconected reversing wire I have not experienced any previous problems. On the later two vehicles the battery charging and fridge operation have been effective.

The bit I find difficult to understand, and the view I expressed to Skoda UK, is how can you legally supply a UK vehicle with 13 pin wiring that is not fully functioning. By definition it is not fit for purpose. It is like buying a car with 4 wheels and then being told only 3 are attached. The excuse that the continent requires something different is not valid. The vehicle is built for the UK market and as such should, by law I would assume, meet the UK requirements.

Simply because the only LEGAL requirement is for the wiring for lights on the trailer, anything else is an accessory, and therefore not a LEGAL requirement. You do not have to have the fridge and battery power and thousands of owners in Europe cope perfectly well without it, as do many caravanners in this country.

And since I guess that the majority of tow bars are fitted to vehicles that do not tow caravans but only small goods or camping trailers your idea would force many people to spend on something they are never going to need.

I was thinking more along "Sale of goods act" , "fitness for purpose" etc. Because for the UK it is not, and that is where the car is built and destined for.

Sorry Colin, but the immediate response to that is that for me, towing my modern Bailey caravan, it is perfectly "fit for purpose" as supplied, as I see no need for these extra items as I have never found them worthwhile.

If these items were a legal requirement then you would be right, but they aren't, therefore  you argument stalls at the first opening.

You would also have to take action against most EU based car manufacturers, from BMW to Renault. I think even LR now sell it as an extra.

Do you take your caravan abroad?

How do you keep your fridge cold whilst on the ferry, especially if you use the 6 hour crossings as we normally do?

Hi found out yesterday that they cannot change order from manual to dsg without cancelling original order. Seriously thinking of cancelling the order now as 5 weeks and still no build date and cannot change to 170 dsg from manual a 170 dsg l&k is what I wanted to start with but wasn't available at time of order. Its really anoying that they cannot change the order from manual to dsg when they haven't even given me a build date yet. This is the first time Ive bought a new car something I was really looking forward to but the enjoyment has gone now.

Well went to dealer today and order now changed to Yeti outdoor L&K 170 tdi dsg original order still in system but looks like it will be cancelled new order accepted.I will have to wait an extra 5 weeks now but decided that I would prefer the dsg version. It looks like it will be about 6 months from first order hope its worth the wait. I was hoping to have it in time for a holiday in June lets hope its here for for a week away in September.

Llanigraham, Truthseeker,

I have been to France each year since 2000 I think. I am fortunate in being able to use the tunnel, using Tesco Vouchers, so have had no problems with fridge keeping cool. I pre-cool on mains and fill with cold food and a frozen home cooked meal for the first meal away. I usually get moaned at as this is still fairly solid after 12/15 hours since leaving home.

My problem lies in that I unfortunately see things in black and white, not very good on shades of grey. "Having a live feed is not a UK requirement" - true, and the  fitting is an accesory, but if 13 pins are supplied and I have paid for 13 pins, then 13 pins should be attached and working.

But that is like saying that most new cars now are pre-installed with wiring for various options (sat nav/cruise control etc), so in theory you have paid for the "wiring", but you do not get the actual option.

Having said that, I had the live feed installed on my official Skoda Westfalia Yeti tow bar/electrics, and that was done in the UK, as was not a factory option on my model at the time. Cost me £700 (2012), by company that did all of the local VAG out-sourced towbars, as opposed to going through my Skoda dealer who wanted £840 and using the same company.

Coiln.

I think we will just have to agree to disagree.

For us to use the Tunnel with the 'van to go to Brittany would be much too far to travel, although we have done it without the 'van. It is much easier and cheaper for us to wander down to Poole or Southampton and take the overnighter to Cherbourg or Caen. Even without the 'van we have to take a hotel in Ashford overnight first. One of the joys of living in the best part of the country.  :giggle:

When did this become Caravan Club!...

I suppose if you order 'electrics' it should come with Caravan !! (LOL)!

I'm out of here!!!

Hey everyone, first post on here and this seemed like the obvious place to start. Ordered an Outdoor 4x4 140bhp in black with numerous add-ons in early Feb, got a build week of 11 (this week). Dealer said at order I could expect delivery end of March. Lots of varying times on here - does that seem likely or should I be anticipating April? Ordered from Rainworth Mansfield.

Ordered my Outdoor 140 L&K DSG 4X4 on 3rd January and was advised it would be Build Week 9 (i.e. last week). Awaiting status update from dealer.

(Was originally intending to order an Elegance, but once I'd added on all the extras I wanted, it ended up more expensive than the L&K, which already had all the goodies. So the L&K it was. Dark brown interior wouldn't have been my first choice, but it's not a deal breaker.)

Update from my dealer (Specialist Cars Dundee) yesterday: car has arrived there and can be picked up anytime from tomorrow onwards. Busy week ahead for me however, so have arranged to collect it next Thursday (20th).

(As I happened to be in the neighbourhood yesterday though, I couldn't help stopping by to see it in the flesh. I would have uploaded a pic below, but can't work out how to do it!)

Ouch! I know I managed to queue jump a little because of a few specific specs. I have a tracking number for use on trackmyskoda.co.uk and it still says Confirmed Build Week 201411 so assuming it's been done this week. Will chase up next week if nothing's changed.

Don't know how people have waited for 5+ months, I'm already climbing the walls!

I couldn't and cancelled. Probably a bit stupid of me, as would be taking delivery around now, but hey - life is too short!

Dealer phoned today, it's currently either on the boat or just docked in Grimsby. Looks like 1-2 weeks until it's cleared customs, delivered and ready for collection. Hoping customs are feeling efficient.
