Dealers - why are their parts so expensive compared to same product elsewhere

Featured Replies

I had a quote for a DFW, clutch and face plate and csc kit = 705 pounds main dealer

Another supplier 450 pounds both Sachs parts.

Dealers have said in the past they make very little profit on parts. But 250 quid minus tax is going somewhere!!

The only good thing about  Dealer Parts/prices ( fitted by the dealer ) is that they are guaranteed for 2 years, parts and labour.

A little piece of mind perhaps.

Normal main dealer mark up.

True about the guarantee. But still a lot more.

DFW? Do you mean the flywheel (DMF?).

Some dealer parts are expensive, but not all and quite often the consumables can work out to be better value from the dealers or TPS. I'll often shop around before settling on the best combination of price, value and brand.

Yes sorry being thick, dual mass flywheel. In Belgium where I am temporarily at the moment they wanted 1400 euros from the dealer. Ouch

Not always, they quoted me 249£ for front brake discs+pads, when i said its a little bit pricey- they come back to me with a discount of 50£ (This including labour)
