Quoted 4 to 4.5 hours to replace clutch ?!

Featured Replies

Sounds too good to be true or is this realistic

The independent I used to replace my PD TDi clutch, DMF and slave cylinder took most of the day IIRC.  I would say that is probs the quickest you could do one that you have been quoted. All depends on your car though. What do you have?

If they are confident, get them to nail the price down and book away ;)

It's a Skoda dealer so maybe they are super quick

A new clutch in a 2010? Whats the miles?

I'd say thats about rite, cambelt takes less than an hour!

I doubt they would hit any hurdles on a car that age.

It's the csc that's gone. Just out of warranty :(, so replacing everything

Took most of the day to do my cars clutch too. They also had trouble bleeding it after.

That's my fear. 8 hours, but oh well if it has a problem not much I can do. Was your clutch gone or the pressure plate or csc?

If the garage has done a few & know what they are doing then 4.5hours is possible, when i worked for honda i could have the gearbox out & the clutch off & on the floor in a hour on a civic(after doing 10 or so you soon get the hang of it) the book time was 4 hours. If the garage has quoted 4.5 hours (which could be the book time) then thats all the labour you should be charged.

^^^ what he said. My clutch was slipping under the power but I paid what they quoted me, not the time it took.
