Should I keep it or not?

Featured Replies

Waited since the beginning of September 2013 for my Vrs. It was finished yesterday  . Then I got the phone call, Sorry but the sun roof on your order hasn't been fitted. Don't know whether to wait or just have the car as is.

Hatch or Combi? If it was the hatch, I'd take it on the chin and perhaps hope for some compensation. If it's for the combi, the sunroof is such a big feature of the combi that you'd essentially be getting a completely different car than the one you ordered.

I'd try haggle a big discount and keep it personally.

Couldn't lived without it. :)

Hmm, of you were in Scotland I'd say keep it as we never see the sun anyway, but if you're in a place that gets sun, and you obviously wanted a sunroof I think you'd never be 100% happy with the car if you just took it as is.

Hmm, maybe think about an after market roof? Webasto are the common brand, skoda might even be firing one of theirs?  Don't know if a mod Luke that would affect insurance premiums though.

you would be off your head to fit an aftermarket sunroof nowadays especially to a brand new car.

A refund on the option cost plus good will offer would be my choice, but i didn't order the sun roof.

Depends how important it is to you I guess.

Find out what they are going to do.

You'll need to find out who was at fault - did the dealer not place the order correctly or was it a factory mistake?

See what you get offered between Skoda and the dealer then make your mind up. It'll also depend if you got the PCP and free servicing deal as that's no longer available.

18 weeks delay plus and SUK give out loaner cars, tell them to stuff the tin-top, rag the loaner for as long as you can and hope for a 64 plate as you're saving money all the time you're in the loaner.

Leaves a bad taste in the mouth agreed but, if you've already waited this long ........

Regards

Thanks Guys. Still not sure what to do. I'll talk to the dealer tomorrow to find out whats gone wrong and make my mind up then.

...so is it a hatch or estate? :) if it was a hatch I wouldn't be too fussed. I'd only want the estate with the opening roof however. :)

Sunroof is ace, but you've waited long enough.

Refund the cost, plus £1000 compensation.

Or an extra set of xtreme alloys with tyres :D

Don't talk to the dealer- log a case directly with Skoda as it may be the dealer at fault for not adding it to the order. I doubt the factory forgot and built your car in the wrong bodyshell.

If it is the estate then it is a big feature, as others have said on the hatch it is just an electric sunroof, not a full pano.

Sent from my phone so please excuse brevity and spelling

I'd be amazed if this were a factory mistake. They may be slow but they pretty consistently turn out what was ordered. My bet would be on a half wit dealer not ordering it. If it's not what you want, my advice would be don't accept it as you'll always be thinking if only....

There's no way I'd take the car without a sunroof (or other major option like this), so I'd get them to resubmit the order and let you use the other car till it arrives.

If you do not get the car you wanted it will always niggle at you. I would push the dealer to chase Skoda for a priority build, plus take a courtesy car until it arrives.

Your car didn't come in through Grimsby with mine and had to be replaced having been damaged did it? Mine was a 10/9/13 order and week 51 build. Did you have other options?

I think this would be an acceptable solution if it were me.
