Richard's mk1 Fabia thread. (Yes, I have a mk1 Fabia problem...)

I expect the chav one will supply parts to get another 2 or 3 on the road Jason...

Unfortunately its bumper is cracked and has a hole in it IIRC. But trivial none the less.

That's so unbelievably cheap.

I love it!

Before the chav one gets scavenged for parts. You should see what it takes to make a very poorly mpi engine go pop.

There is one small fly in the ointment.

It's in York.

We have nobody in York??

Would probably need to be trailered back :/

They could offer it a patch of their drive/ garden whilst BF works on that bit!

Says me [emoji2]

As a Cat C it can't be driven.

I sorted recovery for about the price of the car... :D

Another thing learnt ....I had thought C and D were value/work based.

600 .. fancy a New Year's Honour for rescuing unloved Fabias of a certain colour?

They basically are, but before a cat D can be driven on the road it needs to pass an MOT, regardless of when it last had one. A Cat C needs to pass a VIC check (which is basically to verify its identity) and I believe an MOT.

Thanks!

From my purchases from Copart I found thats not the Case.

Cat C and D's can be driven on the road straight away after repairs, provided it still has a MoT, tax and insurance, However with Cat C's you cannot fill out a V62 (to request for a new V5c) nor will you recieve a Tax reminder without a VIC check.

An example is my First Alfa had 6 weeks MoT left on it which i only found out when a mate went to carry out the MoT itself and due to it being superficial body work damage, i could have driven it (once insured and taxed) straight away

But you couldn't have driven it as being an Alfa the moment it goes to be driven it will **** itself ;)

Failed Emissions due to a tear on the intake pipe (post MAF) and also failed on suspension bushes.
