No MOT, no registration document in the owners name and no road tax.  Insurance grey area.

I'm sure they'd be quite happy. :D

Another thing learnt ....I had thought C and D were value/work based.

Cat C is when the estimated repair cost is over the vehicle's value.

So it's classed as more serious.

The VIC test is just to confirm the identity of the vehicle and check it's safe, which is mainly because being percieved to be more damaged there is more chance of someone stealing a car and cloning the vehicle details to it.

Cat D is an esitimated repair cost over 40% of the value of the car, but under 100%.

As you can see, the problem with this system is that old/cheap cars get made a Cat C quite easily.  Which means it's not worth the hassle of putting them back on the road for relatively minor damage.

Where newer/expensive cars can have serious damage running to tens of thousands of pounds and still only be a Cat D, so just need an MOT... and a clone car stolen to order.

Thanks for taking the time to e plain that Richard.

Another plus about this place.

Not sure, I didn't think that was included as those costs are the same wether the insured vehicle is written off or not.

Will ask my insurance guy the next time he pops in.

Pops in? Is he linked with your copart and car wow accounts and pops in every time a transaction was made? :D That'd be a brilliant system

Edit may have to patent that...

Oh god.

Do you mean the green they paint the "Heritage" edition Defender?

It's the same as the original Series One came in, very late 1940s and the 1950s.

Before Land Rover started to paint everything in Bronze Green.

Safe bet, nobody will go near that.

You could park it anywhere. :)

About £900 too much.

And whats with the bolts on that engine mount? I don't think they came with double washers from the factory :P

Could you shoehorn this diesel engine into one of your FGFs? At least it's colour matched :)
