Completely forgot about the BBQ!

Do you know what time the last run will be?

Hi James, not sure what time the last run will be but I have confirmed numbers (30-33) with AMD and they are happy.

What they HAVE said is that they will look to group certain cars together to speed it up as much as possible and save adjusting the rollers for each run (ie All Fabia, all Octavia, Yeti, etc) together.

I am really quite excited about this day, first Brisky event I have planned and providing the weather is good (which it is set to be) and we get 99% of the list to turn up, we will have the BBQ, a chance to meet new members, share ideas and have a good chin wag and it will be a huge success!

I am afraid that I will no longer be able to make this gathering.

Due to the love hate relationship that I have with my car, I will now be able to make this gathering.

Weather forecast looks alright!

essexocty still coming? Looks like we will be the only two Octavia mk1 owners there!

Really like the look of the new mk3 Octavias, looking forward to seeing that up close. One of those might be the only thing I could justify replacing my mk1 with once the prices come down to an affordable level.

Hi guys sorry to be a pain but I'm afraid I'm out :( I'm gutted but have been knocked out most of this week but a serious virus and can barely drive for more than 5mins so am not gona be able to make it down to AMD on Sunday. Really sorry to be a pain and it looks like it's set to be a great day. Have fun guys!

Yes, he sure is (AFAIK), there will be 2/3 MK1s and a couple of MK3s - should be a cracker!

Q?

Is there a problem testing cars fitted with DSG or any auto on AMD's rollers?

I've been told that they always use 5th gear to run the test procedure but have found problems keeping out of kickdown when testing automatics.

I could have another problem. I've just bought a DSG VW with a very tall final drive ration, with 4th gear equating with 5th on our two Skodas, I'm wondering if they would

modify their normal test procedures to account for this difference.

So long as you can force the car to hold a particular gear I don't think it should be a problem.

Have you heard of AmD always using 5th gear or dynos in general? On a previous dyno day I did at a different venue they used 4th gear, which in that car topped out at about 115mph. I'm expecting them to use third or fourth gear for my mk1 Octavia vRS. I doub't they'd use 5th as the wheel speed would probably be 150mph+!

even if im not going on the RR, would it be ok to pop down and say hi if i get a chance??

We've had 5 cars tweaked by AMD, 3 manuals & 2 DSG, all the printed charts / details showed that they were tested in 5th gear (all 6-speed boxes).

I've asked them if they would test my new wheels in 4th, 'cos of the long gearing but the guy I was talking to didn't seem to understand my question!

He also said that they could never give exact figures for automatics, 'cos they would always hit the kick-down switch on full throttle.

I've got a GTROC meet I've organised at 11:30am in Essex so won't be there all day either, but I'm aiming to get there around the starting time and spend a couple of hours there.

Mine is all clean and shiny :)

See you all around 9am

Right, the day is finally upon us! Car cleaned and ready to roll!

FYI, I have just had a call from AMD confirming we are ready. They advised me that the BBQ will be going from around 10am and that they will look to roll the cars quickly and we will likely be done by around 1-2pm! To get them through as quickly as they can, they prefer to roll the cars with the same chassis in groups ie Fabia/Polo/Ibiza then the next group but they will be flexible if we have any special requirements ie Richard, I know you will be a touch limited on time so we will ensure flexibility if needed.

I have not been to AMD before but am looking forwards to a good turn out, weather looks to be on our side too!

Behind ikea if people get lost :)

Sounds good, cant wait till tomorrow!

Maybe I should get in quick before they get stuck into the VAG stuff. :D

Doubt they'll be many 22 year old RB26 engined four wheel drive cars there...
