Need advice on my VRS

Featured Replies

1.20th January car was delivered to the dealership and because I have my own number plate DVLA cocked up the tax disc saying disabled instead of diesel. That put back me picking up car till the 30th Jan

2.30th jan big day arrived only to be told the the air bag light is coming on and after investigation could not pick my car up

3.Up to today no car changed the 2 parts sensor for air bag and ABS but still no joy getting really frustrated now and have decided to ring Skoda at Milton Keynes to lodge a formal complaint.

4.Told last night that it could be a software problem and will be downloading a 8 MB file which I'm told will take ages ????

I have had a courtesy car for 2 weeks and the dealership have been apologetic on the problems.

Hopefully today hope to see her but still disheartened on having a brand new car with all the faults detailed.

Any advice if I should be compensated for all the inconveince

Yes it's not great but like you say the dealership have been apologetic and you've got a courtesy so you don't need to be compensated.  Hopefully you'll have it back soon and you can forget it ever happened.

Hi Neil,

I hope you are well.

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having. I can understand why you are disheartened.

When my Mrs had some minor issues with her FL Mk2 the sales manager arranged for her car to be picked up, loaned his demo car (Octy 3) and personally delivered it back - it was nice that he took personal responsability having always dealt with us. Id speak to your sales team and really reiterate how unhappy you are and how you feel - Ask to be put in something nice until yours is spot on and ready to go - Ive always found things get done quicker when your running around in one of their demos/company cars as opposed to a service car.

Id also go for some kind of an extra, boot liner/extra service/life shine/extra year warranty - its worth a try for ONE of them things - may be pushing it for the lot

If your having no joy speak to the dealer principal and go from there...

Kindest Regards

I'm a big one for consumer rights, but I think the key element is whether or not you have taken ownership of the car yet and if any finance deal has begun.  If your finance deal isn't yet live, then the fact the dealer has given you a car is sufficient compensation, although admittedly annoying as it probably isn't the vRS you were expecting.

If you are paying for your car, but are having to drive around in a courtesy vehicle while they fix a manufacturing fault, then most definitely - I would be after the figure you pay on the finance deal (if low deposit).

E.g.: - £300 / month, 2 weeks without a car = £150 approx.

If you are feeling hard done by and the dealer isn't playing ball, remember a quick Google Search will likely give the email address for the CEO of Skoda UK....

Hi Fiisch

Already signed the finance forms and a payment is on the 20th Feb,just phoned garage and still waiting for a fix for the download, might not be today.

Payed 25,000 for the car and my argument is not with the garage who have been superb but the car,

My understanding is you have entered into a contract with the dealer to purchase a Skoda, and that you should pursue the dealer for any recompense.  They would be my first port of call as they should act as liaison between you and Skoda - for the sale, on-going service, and negative issues with the car.

My argument, had I taken delivery of the vehicle and entered into the finance agreement, would be that the dealer are in breach of contract for failing to supply goods that are "fit for the purpose for which it was sold", therefore I would expect compensation or terminate the contract in lieu of the breach.

Tough one,

Yes says the heart....

No says the head, let me explain why:

The DVLA messed up not Skoda, so not much you can do about that.

RE the airbag light, they will put it down to safety for the issue on 30/01.

The 8mb file will not take ages unless they are still using dial-up down there lol, but I suspect that they will not prioritise this job but just can't say that.

You've been supplied with courtesy for 2 weeks, and although it's not ideal you're not putting the mileage on your vRS.

The most you could get out them is a wash or something like that.

Personally I would complain and hope for the best, but expect a polite FU from them

oh and please mark your duplicate thread answered or ask a mod to close.

Just regarding the problems with abs unit.

Mine had a complete failure of the unit, and it was replaced with a different part number. Supposedly an updated part to fix problems.

Not sure that will help, but there you go.

And good luck trying to get the dealer to give any compensation at all, mines spent 4 weeks on and off in their garage, and nothing.

Also on finance.

I'm with Cossiecol here, you'll get didle dee squat outta DVLA, the dealership are keeping their end up but, I think the dealers would probably support you in trying to get something outta SUK personally, I'd push SUK for the extra 2 years of Maintenance and Service free, if this is just the start of your ownership you just might need those extra years.

Regards

T

First thing is you have signed the finance and the car belongs to the finance company until fully paid for, you need to contact VW finance and explain to them what has happened and see if you can get your first payment moved.  Remember the finance company have supplied a car not fit for purpose.

As for DVLA, registrations are done electronically by the dealer and chances are the dealer screwed up.

If you are going to ask for compensation ask for things that are easy for the dealer to give you, things like Life shine, spare wheel if not ordered.
