Sat Nav...

Featured Replies

Does anyone have Skoda's own sat nav system installed? Just wondering what it was like compared to 3rd party sat nav systems. My dealer says that Skoda don't retro fit sat nav (as seemingly with everything) but then I imagine its a different dash board. One of the guy's in work has one that sits on top of his dash, but I don't think it's worth the

Damo,

For an alternative, check out Quinten's installation of a Blaupunkt sat nav system here, and his review here.

Yes, though whether you could call that an advantage... ;)

It's all rather new though, www.wayfinder.net

So new, I get a DNS error trying to access the site. Only me?

I have the best sat-nav system in the world. It's named "printing maps from streetmap.co.uk and using them to find my way." - A useful bolt-on for this system is the "AA Map of GB." This is a very useful bolt-on as it can be easily switched between vehicles and is 100% compatible with other systems. :D

Another useful interface for the AA Map of GB is the "Interactive Passenger" plug-in. This plug-in gives spoken directions, but does have a built-in random inaccuracy feature, which does occasionally give incorrect directions. However, it normally manages to get you back on-route.

:D :D

:D :D

I think my "Interactive Passenger" plug-in must be faulty.

It's prone to lose its glasses, or ask "Where are we?", "Which road are we on", or - worst of all - "I've just put the map away, I thought you knew the way from here".

I also get the "you wanted to take that turning" instruction. Whenever I try and set the advanced warning option, it tells me I drive too fast...

I find Jason's idea of printing off directions (although I use mapquest) to be pretty much faultless. So long as no one asks why I was late to the midland's meet, and now own a street map of Birmingham... :D

I have recently bought an iPAQ with Tomtom navigator & cradle. ~

My streetmap of Birmingham = never go on the INSIDE of the M42. :D
