Dealer switches DRLs off - why?

Featured Replies

When we picked up the car the DRLs were off. Mrs T wants to be seen so I switched them on. Last week the car was in for the recall work to the heated seats and the DRLs were off when we picked up the car. Any reason why they would do this? Is this a Skoda policy? Or am I reading to much into this?

It's not an issue; 10 second job to turn them back on. I'm just curious. And I will ask them next time I'm there.

Maybe the dealer has a personal dislike for DRLs?!

They may have turned them off to save the battery when they are working on the car that requires the ignition to be turned on and simply forget to turn them back on again?

Did you ask the dealer why they had not been turned back on?

This was my exact first thought, igniton on - switch the lights off.

They could have been checking the amp outage after changing the heating elements and the switch ,

and wanted everything off and forgot to put back on.

Or the wanting no drain on the battery with the ignition on.

Or like me, get in a car, any car, & try to see how to get the DRLs off.

I could understand that they would have a dislike for them though.

There's a switch next to the fuse box in the Monte to turn them off.

Not on mine theres not.....2014 model

Contact someone on the VCDS owners map in my signature and they can turn them off for you.

Mine weren't switched on when I took delivery but a quick look in the fuse box to find the switch and, voila, illuminated DRLs.

Why are they a PITA???

They're just lights! and you don't need to do anything with them!

Just my opinion m8 don't like them never have.....just reminds me of all the boy racers going round with their fog lights on when theres no need for them....to be on....

I feel a little bit odd just contacting someone outta the blue and asking them to have a go at switching my DRL's off......(What is the VCDS...???)

VCDS is a piece of software that talks to the car via a cable, don’t worry about contacting someone out of the blue that is how most of the requests are done and the owners do not mind (which is why they put themselves on the list... to help others out)

Short of what gizmo says

Have a search around on the internet for a car performance specialist with vcds. One near me did all the adjustments i wanted for £30, when the dealer told me that its completely impossible to do some of the things i asked for

Cheers I have contacted my nearest member to me....hope he can help.....

Seeing you're in Lincoln you must have bought from the same dealer as I did and mine were switched off when I bought it as well, but they didn't turn them off when it's been back in having work done. Must just be something they like to do.

I can control the DRLs buy the use of the indicator stalk in my 2012 Fabia. With ignition off pull the indicator stalk towards you then down turn the ignition on let the indicators flash 4 times then an audible bong sounds turn ignition off. The DRLs are now off. To turn them on do the same procedure but the stalk up this time, this turns them on.

This might work for you.

Pete

I shall give this a go tomorrow

Just tried this on my car didn't work at all oh well just have to get the led bulbs after all thanx anyway for sharing this info

Sounds like a good idea, but I doubt if it work on the models with the switch next to the fuse-box.

Why ?...Coz, if the stalk thingy flipped the DRLs between off/on, it would mean the switch next to the fusebox would be wrong, ie the decals would show O or I for the wrong setting.

cheers

Has someone got a photo of this switch in the fuse box ?

post-22506-0-82387300-1393336578_thumb.jpgNo, but from memory, you take of the panel (by your right knee) and it is a flat rocker switch.  If I remember, I'll take a snap.

In the menatime, I found this pic on Google - not quite as I remember, but my "senior moments" are increasing...
