Has anyone noticed that there is no specification for the oil type on the handbook for the TSI VRS?

 

My warning light came on after a trip to the lakes (270 miles) and i stopped at halfords, checked the book (which was useless for my engine) and then simply checked the type of oil required in store. Of course, the shops booklet didn't have info on the mk3 tai vas so i used the golf mk7 info.

 

Castrol Edge 5W-30. Topped up 1 litre - bit annoyed because a few miles after that my oil change / service light came on!

    VAG cars particularly petrols tend to burn a fair bit of oil from new but does settle after a few K. I dont think the guy needed to be harrased and told that he is irresponsible for not checking his

    You serious??  Don't check the oil because there's a warranty and breakdown cover??   Warranty doesn't cover negligence, if you let it run out of oil you'll be faced with a very large bill.   What

Octavia vRS TSI MK3, first top up of 1/2 litre at 7300 miles. 

 

Just a bit better than the Fabia vRS MK2, thank God!

Looks like I'm gonna have to wait a while then, I've only ragged mine for 1,500 miles and the level ain't moved.

Same here...2500 miles and level hasn't moved yet.  :happy:

Yes you do, it won't tell if all the tyres have gone flat.

Actually it does detect when there's a change with the full set, as you get a warning even when you change your tires in summer/winter.
