  • Check whether you get the retaining screws for the discs. Fair chance one or both of the existing ones will be knackered during removal. New ones from the dealer are torx rather than than crosshead.

  • Thats a horrendous price. But they probably charge a huge price for the parts. Just ring them and ask for the size Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

  • I can't believe that after 4 weeks and 54 posts you haven't actually bought and fitted the pads.   Get a Move on!

You've been umming and rrrring for 4 days now. Why can't you take 2 wheels off and measure front and rear discs?  Only way to get the right sizes.

Because I thought I'd ask this useful and friendly Forum

the fronts ones will be 312mm for a VRS and for the rear it will be easier just to go and measure them

Be careful, it's not just the diameter. I checked with Euro Car Parts measured by front discs at 280mm, and bought 104440728 Pagid 53954 - which don't fit my 2010 1.4 TSI. Pads were correct, but I'm off to the nearest EuroCarParts store which is an hours drive away with one of the old discs to match.

This is what I feared....Hope to get some dimensions when I go to the dealer on Monday

Any one know what size for a 2006 vrs thanks

312mm front 286mm rear

I know that as I bought some off ebay advertised to fit the vrs tdi but they are 282 and are too small

Forgot to say mine is a petrol does that make a difference. Its a early mk2 with the green calipers

Haynes Octavia 'diesel' manual says 312mm front and 286mm rear for the 125Kw common rail (VRS) and that's the exact same sizes I bought for my 2007 PD VRS.

Thanks guys

have fun hunting for 286mm discs. Just had to email brembo asking if they actually make them as even their online catalog is wrong

Having some trouble getting the correct part numbers.

My dealer refused as people are getting a number and buying elswhere....No surprise given their price

BTW....The discs are 272 on the rear of the FL Octavia vRS CR

who said they are 272?

Thats 14mm smaller than the pre facelift vrs tdi

I asked EBC about it and they said its a common problem and 100% skoda's fault for releasing the wrong information. If you buy EBC then you need to buy the mk2 petrol vrs rear discs which are 286mm.

Brembo make 282mm discs for a car which they dont fit and this will be due to skoda releasing the wrong information

Edited by ryan-re

I think the 272 is referring to the price of them from the dealer.

Dealer parts department...FL 2010 Octavia CR 170 ....272 x 10mm 5/112 Bosch rear disc

That's what they wrote down for me yesterday after they wouldn't give me a part number

So its thinner than a pre face lift too. What does it say in haynes manual?

Id take that with a pinch of salt if it was me and go measure it

I've got no idea what it says in a Haynes Manual

I haven't got one

Honestly mate, id go measure them.

I know its hassle but there is an issue with what skoda etc etc say is the size and what has actually been fitted

I bought brembos for mine, put the rears on the old ones and there was a gap, new brembos were definetly too small and these are the only size brembo do for the octavia vrs

Anyone used Mtec drilled and grooved disks??

A full set of disks and pads (ebc I think) is around £170.

Already said in post 35 that Haynes says the common rail rear discs are 286x12 (fronts being 312x25)

Mine are 286x12 that's on a FL Cr vrs registered Jan 2010.

Hang on guys, there's an easy way to check which brakes you have fitted, and you can do it without even turning a spanner or lifting a tape measure.. The chassis pr codes are printed on a label on the inside of the service book, using these codes you can decipher which options and equipment the vehicle had fitted at the factory. Sometimes people like gsf or euro can tell you which discs and pads to use from these pr codes, and I'm sure there is a web application somewhere I've seen where you can enter them and it tells you what they all mean.

The Parts lady has my details in the computer with all my codes from my registration and details from new

So how can that be wrong?

Quite easy.

Vw gave me the wrong bulb for my 61 plate caddy the other day because its what the system said.

Im not saying they are wrong for the sake of it, i'd honestly recomend spending the time to check your self
