New Audi S1 makes its debut at long last.

Tail end looks sweet!

Could nearly be the new Fabia vRS if it had a bit more room

Space for Skoda to bring in a vRD 184 BHP diesel.

Going to stick my neck out at the risk of being Audi-bashed - I like the look of it it :)

The performance sounds good aswell. Lets hope it drives well too.

Audi bashed? From skoda owners? No they hate others bashing skoda so wouldn't involve themselves in such an activity :)

Looks good but no doubt expensive :(

I'd have this if I could afford it

I bought my S4 around 3 months old, it had took a huge hit & cost not much more than a well spec'd Octavia vRS.

Best way to buy premium cars IMO :)

You can afford it Chris, Your retired

S1 3dr is £22,694 (£2126 discount) and the 5dr is £23,454 (£2176 discount). Both prices with no extras at dtd.

Expensive for a rebodied Polo, but quite cheap for 228bhp and 0-60 in 5.8s!

Lets see when 'Drive the Deal' can get a customer one at that prices.

Is it a rebodied Polo or actually a Modified A1 with Quattro & 4 link rear suspension.

A Polo GTI or A1 185 ps with its own body is not currently a cheap car,

At present neither dtd or orangewheels allow you to select any options, so we'll have to wait and see what their actual transaction prices will be.

The A1 is based on the Polo platform. Therefore S1 is based on a modified Polo platform.

A 5dr Polo GTi (180) is available from £16,877, which is approx £650 more than a Fiesta ST-3, which is probably the better car. Neither of those prices sounds terribly expensive for the sort of performance on offer, well not to me anyway.

PQ25 (A05)

Ibiza mk4, Polo mk5, Fabia mk2 FL, A1 type 8X.

(since the Ibiza mk4 came first in 2008, they will all be on a modified Ibiza platform.)

If they can get you a 5 door GTI for under £17,600 & a 3 door for £17,000 then that is good.

You just need to keep your fingers crossed you do not get an Oil Burner & it can be a keeper.

Not that problem with the Ford obviously, but then there is no Auto available.

I saw a picture of this on the new top gear magazine. 2litre turbo, 6spd manual and 4wd. Sounds epic :)

I like it and the price seems OK for the performance.

What I don't like is the typical list of expensive options that should be fitted to any S or RS badged Audi.

That is very true.

I guess a used one with a fe toys will be worth it after the initial whack on depreciation

Could do with being a little cheaper if it's expected one will have to option it up IMO.

Size wise, spec wise, difficult to tell.... Compare with Subaru Impreza 1996ish maybe?

Size wise, space wise it is easy to compare,

it is a Audi A1 Platform but with Haldex,

(modified and better suspension and heavier, but that is what it is no matter what Code Number Audi/VW want to give it, same as the A1 Quattro they already produced.)

http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1113511

so it is just the same size of PQ24-PQ25  as a SEAT Ibiza Mk4, VW Polo MK5, Skoda Fabia mk 2 FL & Audi A1.

It is the one with the least space and the nicest interior,

and the most expensive even when with a 1.4 TSI.

I really like it.

At over £25k! It's certainly not in my to 10 cars to have.. Silly price tag... Mk7 golf GTI, ford focus RS, Audi rs6, Mk6 golf R, Porsche 911 bmw m135i, bmw 335i etc: are all more preferred cars imo..

You can have Part Time AWD for under £30,000 with the Golf R, FW Driver

maybe there is a  BMW X-drive in that price bracket, RW Driver.

Not that many with Part time AWD and that performance available new from a Dealership for under 30 grand.

Maybe a Subaru again soon.

& maybe at some point another Ford.

I like it but price-wise isn't this a little close to the Golf R?

I like it - would love one of those.

Decent engine and a manual gearbox!!

Was thinking it be just that bit faster

From memory, they've been around for a little while. It's what the Fabia should have looked like. But to my eye the Roomster and Fabia 2 seem to share a few panels.
