7 speed DSG fault?

Featured Replies

My Yeti is still very sick. New box, new clutch pack, new mechatronic, new drive shafts, same problem of clutch judder. Skoda have hired me a BMW. Luckily warranty does not run out for another 2 weeks and this is only because Skoda extended the warranty by 6 months because of earlier cockups. When (if) it is repaired if there is no new warranty to back it up I feel that the potential financial risk is too great and the car must go. Only problem is what to get. 500,000 recalled Chinese versions indicate serious problems with this technology.

  • Thank christ that was a warranty job.  It's the expense of putting it right outside of warranty that puts me off of ever buying a DSG car.

I will have nothing other than a DSG / S-Tronic, but only with a Full Warranty covering it.

Original Manufactures or Extended.

Not many faulty ones for the amount there are in the world,

I have given some much abuse and never a glitch.

PS

In the UK,  Skoda need to handle this 'Service Campaign' better,

Stop trying to run a 'Silent Campaign'.

Just in the last 2 days, Fabia Mk2 vRS Owners with 2010-2014 cars have some requiring

'Field Action'  and some not.

The messages and phone calls are now reaching some to have the Oil Changed in the

DSG, no rhyme or Reason to the Build Date, over the 4 years with the vRS.

*Skoda were just going to do the 'Service Campaign' as Cars went in for Annual Servicing.

So its a case of checking the Skoda 'Recall Require' using you VIN,

Because it is not a 'Recall',  they have confinced VOSA a 'Recall' was not required.

So better to call Skoda UK Customer Services,

or Email and have their Reply in writing.

I like the box as well but like you not enough to own one without insurance. In a 4/5 year old car a failure would mean the repair would cost more than the car is worth. That is the trouble with modern technology, fine whilst it is working, but when it stops !!!

Don't all these failures and problems concern you DSG owner/users?

I'd be absolutely  cacking myself worrying about potential disaster, especially if the car was out of warranty.

Horrendous reading this thread.

Skoda/VW   have 'Convinced' VOSA / DfT in the UK

that the Interuption or Loss of Power & Drive is 'Not Safety Critical.

DERREN BROWN MUST HAVE ACTED AS A CONSULTANT FOR THE VOLKSWAGEN GROUP.

'"If you lose power or drive you will be able to safely roll to the side of the road,

even if uphill in the outside lane"

'Buy a Lottery Ticket, you are sure to win sometime.'

So no VOSA Backed Recall with Skoda/VW/SEAT/Audi  being given Registered Keepers Address's.

So VOSA Safety Department have replied to Briskoda Members that contacted about concerns of Cars Out Of Warranty,

Possibly changed hands & not going near a Main Dealer,

The Oldest Models that may be affected & will not being part of the 'Service Campaign'.

So the Keeper never hears about the possibility of their vehicle being Affected.

VOSA say,   Skoda's Campaign is Enough,

Usually Dealers/Manufacturers send out Letters,  No Safety Concerns.

* After all the Second Biggest Car Manufacturer in the Worlds concern is customer Safety & Satisfaction.!*

So the Citigo gets a VOSA Recall on 'Airbag Sensors'.

That is Safety Critical.  Well if you have an Accident.

Funny, they seem to think, 'Power Interruption', or Loss Of Power & Drive',

That could cause the Accidents that then have Air Bags Deploy is not a 'Critical Safety issue.'

Funny in New Zealand, Skoda can do a Proper Service Campaign where Owners are

treated properly.

AUTOCAR,

Had Articles last June saying why,  'No Recall is required in the UK'.

Not seen an article 11 months later to say,  'Service Campaign now required in the UK'.

Why no Update Articles,  or VW Group Manufacturers Running Adverts?

surely not a Case of no Press Releases from the Volkswagen Group,

or Publishers not wanting to upset Advertisers & Road Test Car Providers!

No Update from Auto Express.

I notice Skoda Running full Page Sales Adverts in their Advertising Campaign.

Yet no little ad, like

Ex Customers-Owners- buyers-drivers,

this is the Story, this is what you need to do.

Similar is happening in my country for now. The dealer hasn't contacted owners for this 34F6 fix. They intend to just do it when customers come in for servicing.

Strong consumer laws are needed I would say to not let manufacturers use this silent update so easily. Loss of power suddenly is a safety issue as stated in the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc. shouldn't be able to dodge this dependent on country. Safety is safety.

Totally agree with the last three entries above !!

Openness , honesty and integrity , generates Trust and Respect. Company and human ethics are important in this industry - well done Toyota, over recent years for taking the pain. You can hold your head up high in my view, even though  I'm the owner of a Skoda, which I enjoy in many ways.

Not Skoda & not a UK site,

but as we know often its the same issues in VW, Skoda, Seat, Audi in a variety of

models and in different countries.

I can confirm that after the fix applied, I have had a great improvement in my cars performance.  A vast reduction in stuttering etc.

However! Slight issues still being felt.  Doing a long drive soon so will report back.

Well, the stuttering is far less pronounced but in some situations is still there, eg delay in pulling away at traffic lights from standing stop.

I'm having similar since the new clutch pack. Was fine for a few days, but the hesitation between 1st and 2nd is still there. Very very minor but I'm betting it'll help kill the new clutch pack - hopefully whilst still in warranty!

SO NOT SORTED THEN !!!!

Neither is mine. Now two weeks in workshop. Nobody seems to know when it will be repaired. At least I am getting to appreciate the lovely BMW that they have loaned me.

SO NOT SORTED THEN !!!!

Quality repairs - tried, tested and approved, no doubt signed off by Master Tech!

I'm trying SO hard not to get hysterical here, so I'm saying nowt.  ;)

Jeez this dsg debacle is ludicrous ! It needs a recall , loss of power in the fast lane at 70 or any other lane would be a catastrophe , how can a motor manufacturer get away with this ? , hats of to the Japanese I say they don't hang around with product recalls !
