GFWC MK1 VRS Estate!

Featured Replies

Cheers, think I'll give it a miss then!

I bet haha, nothing like a bit of utilitarianism though ;) One of those things with a 1.9 tdi engine, 4wd and big suspension/wheels and off road tyres would be awesome, haha.

Charlie does them. He's darkhero on here. He lives in Lydd not too far from me so dropped them off and picked them up couple nights later :)

I'm sorry, but those cloudy lights really bug me on what is otherwise a lovely car! Would look a million times better if you got them polished up all shiny :)

edit: or is that just the photo making it look that way? Looks alright in the other one

In the bottom pic it was very early in the morning and what you're seeing is a lot of condensation on the inside!

I am however replacing the headlamps around Christmas time :)

Ahhh I see. Should look miles better then, such a small thing but makes a big difference!

Thanks Charlie, some genuine BBS RC090's. Off to be mirror polished in a couple weeks!

Went and looked at a garage last night to take the Fabia off the road to do a few bits to it!

The car FITS, but it's very tight. Not wide enough to resspray it. Just about wide enough to be able to get out the door both sides. So barely enough to work on it much either :( but I'm going to give it a go and see how I get on :)

Picking up a 6sp gearbox and all the other bits for the 6sp conversion tomorrow from Mr BossFox.

Not sure how long it will take me to do the swap, but we'll see!

All that's really left to make this estate a complete 'VRS' is the 6 speed gearbox, and black roof lining.

You know the box can come out without taking the engine and subframe apart, right?

Indeed, but the engine had to come out anyway. :)

Looks productive :)

Looks like you've done a good job there, I like to think that I had helped by removing the offside wishbone the other week :)

All a learning curve. Never taken an engine out before. Made quite a mess!

Was very good to meet you today.

One of the great things about Briskoda is that you do meet some genuinely nice people in the course of tinkering with cars.

I know dropping the engine/box turned into more work than expected, but I'm glad you got almost everything you required in one visit and left with quite a collection of parts. :)

Thank you Richard, was very good meeting you yesterday too! Despite it nearly getting the better of me, I had a lot of fun! :)

The daunting thing is having to do it all again to my car to fit the box etc.

Don't try it alone.

I refitted my box while the engine was out and that was hard enough trying to get it all lined up and getting bolts in while supporting a heavy box (I think the 6spd is heavier too). Can't imagine I'd have been able to do it with the engine in the car on my own.

All a learning curve. Never taken an engine out before. Made quite a mess!

A learning experiance I want to do too! lol

where abouts in kent are you?
