CAN interface: questionable

Featured Replies

Hi,

I would try some vcds tweaks (really, just needle sweep) but when I test my usb port, with my friend's cable, it says "Can interface: questionable". My friend's car is an audi a3 and I have a fabia my2008.

I think that problem don't allow me to use the long coding helper menu, so i'm not able to perform the necessary steps.

And i'm not able to perform autoscan

It's a cable fault? My car doesn't support CAN interface?

thanks in advance

What cable are you using?

I'm using an hex+can to usb cable

Did you have the ignition turned on? It must be on for onboard diagnostics to be available.

Is it a genuine Ross-Tech cable? If so then you can contact them via their support page http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/support.html

Yes, I turned on ignition. Sincerely i don't know, i think it is. like i said it's not mine. i'll try. However can anyone confirm that my car is "CAN-enabled"?

Because I'm not able to perform autoscan too. I have to select manually my car's model.

Tomorrow i'll speak to my friend about ross-tech's support.

You will not be able to do the needle sweep ! Needs a certain type of clocks/speedo only a few are able to get needle sweep, you need to remove the housing that is under your clocks this will have a product code on it stating which type you have

Couldn't i retrieve it from vcds?

No ! If it's not there !

Anyhow the problem is the "questionable" grade. Is it normal? Ross-tech's site doesn't mention it. They talk about "Not Ready" or "OK" grade. I read something about radio's interference with the CAN gateway on some cars
