I love the sound it makes!

Rob

I've been looking for pictures of the amp under the seat with no joy, wanted to see if it had any settings/ gain controls on it?

Nothing that I can see from peering under the seat.

Does that mean the tweeters are the standard ones and its just the covers that differ.

One assumes the rears are 5.25" whilst the fronts are 6.5"?

All I will say is that the drivers and sub enclosure dont look particularly expensive or high end; better than stock but probably not significantly so. Its the additional amplification and sub that make the difference.

The speakers are all manufactured by Canton, a premium German audio brand unlike the original made in China paper cone based speakers of the standard system.

What size is the subwoofer? I thought it would be an 8" but it looks even smaller than that, maybe 6" ??

Still patiently waiting for mine :(

Have a look at the centre image below, it shows the speaker placement and sizes. In addition to the Sub and better quality speakers you also gain a centre channel speaker in the dash, just like I have in my A8. The car on the left shows the factory system for comparison. The car on the right option is not available in the UK.

Thanks that's extremely helpful! So the sub is only 6.5", which I guess explains why some people say it doesn't go too low.

Looking at the wattage and ohm's going to the sub I should be able to swap it for the 8" JL Audio sub I have in my current car :)

What was surprising to me was how much of a difference that center front speaker makes. Coming from a car without to one with it, it was a big difference to me.

Doubt it...probably made by a VAG supplier to Canton specs. They've helped Skoda develop the solution but I doubt they manufacture it. Lets face it £400 isnt going to buy you world class quality....several K for the B&O Advanced systems in an A6/A8 perhaps but not in a Skoda.

So these are the sizes and spec of the standard speakers? Useful to know if they need to be upgraded at any point.

Question!

I will soon order a Octavia GTEC wich have the gastanks under the bootfloor. When I was looking at the configurator it wasn´t possible to order the car with the Canton-system. I believed it was because the sub was under the bootfloor and there is no room for it there.

BUT it seams that the sub is on the left side in the boot. Or is it only so in the sedan-model and not the combi?

Edited by nima01

It's on the left side in the combi too.

Aha. But why cannot it be ordered then? The only difference is the gastanks under the floor.

Any reason it's been greyed out on UK configuration today? Seems they are removing more and more extras.

I've just been through the Configurator and spec'd up an Octy Elegance combi and was able to add the canton, its usually greyed out if something else is added that is not compatible, not sure what though.

For some reason the mounting fixture in boot conflicts with it. Thanks.

Looks like the VW Golf MK7 wins again............ :p ..................big sub mounted inside space saver spare wheel.............all Dynaudio brand............& re-branded "Fender" in USA.................in fact the sub looks like the same B&O in the Audis.............  :nerd:

...until/unless one tyre goes flat... I prefer to have my spare wheel ;)

Still have spare wheel, the sub sits inside an 18" spare, the spare is face down in the well, the sub is then placed inside the back face of the spare wheel.......................a full width wheel could be used in 18" but would mean that the vari floor would not work, but if you have the estate like I will have this is not a problem............

Got it... at last, thanks for explaining! It's a good idea for a second or for a DIY sealed sub!

I was told by my dealer I could have canton and the variable floor, the sub is slightly different or they way its mounted or something like that. When they ordered the options they said they have to select canton with vbf or without

I have the vbf and canton in my estate.

Forgot to add that I was referring to the Golf hatch when I said the vari floor won't work if a full width (225) spare is used. The hatch & estate both can have the sub & space saver spare, & the vari floor in the hatch will work. However the estate in the Golf never gets the vari floor. Just the fixed higher (load lip level) floor.
