what profile you running on your spiders

Featured Replies

Hi guys im goin to be needing new tyres soon for my octy on 17" spiders. But thinking wider and lower profile im currently running standard size of 205/50/17S but what are you running?

Like a lot of people on here, I went over to 225/45-17 when I first got the car. Reason being they fit, sit on, and have the same rolling diameter as the 205/50's, but at like half the cost, because they're a way more popular size.

They look and perform the same as the stock sizes.

It means I can afford Michelin Pilot Sport 3's - in this size I get them for £90 a corner. Bargain! And if you're on a budget, then other decent brands can be had at nearer £50 a corner...

Yeah i am running 225/45/17 which is a popular size on the oem spiders

Same here. 225/45's

I find them more grippy and much less tyre fold haha

I found it swallowed about 5 mpg more fuel on 225's for some reason, and it liked rolling in the ruts in the road more

I also found not much difference price wise

Same here, plus I found the grip was just the same as 205's

I stuck with the standard 205's for that reason when I replaced all four tyres. My car is bad enough on fuel as it is!!

mines got 205's my spare is a 225 and when i had it on it looked absolutely turd when i had it fitted prefer the straight look of the 205's rather then the wider 225..

I think it was bodge said a few years back that the 205's are a little more nimble, I would tend to agree with this.

225 feels a little more sluggish a low speeds.
