High Mileage Octavia VRS

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My missus wants to buy a VRS estate. She does very little mileage a year, basically driving the dogs to their walk and a couple of times a year pulling a caravan to the New Forest!!!

Of course she wants a bargain and has found one that is in Essex, quite a way from me. She has spoken to the garage on the phone today but I told her I would get second opinions on here also!!!

It has a full service history and according to the garage its actually in good condition bearing in mind the mileage!

Here's the link http://www.rdmotorsltd.co.uk/used-cars/skoda-octavia-2-0t-fsi-vrs-5dr-essex-201403212692442

With it being the bank holidays we are not able to go and look at it until probably next week sometime!!

If there is any one local who knows of this garage in Essex could give me an opinion on them or if I could be cheeky and ask for them to go and have a look see!!!

I already own a Octavia VRS but in the hatchback form but would always like the experts opinion.

It only mentions electric front windows but has electric rears too. Seems to have missed out on the freebie 18" alloys though.

They are 18" alloys, look at the side profile. States 17" but they are 18's.

Maxidot and Jumbo box too.

Well we took the plunge and went to look at it, my god what a shed. All wheels kerbed, bonnet had loads of stone chips which had rusted, the rear bumper was all scraped. The engine bay was good though! The outside was covered in dust we said our goodbyes and did not even test drive it!

Oh how this brings back memories of the same kind of scenario! Years ago I was after a Vectra 2.2 Sri petrol and scoured my local area with no joy. Looked on the net and found one in Yorkshire, loads of pictures all shining and clean. Spent nearly 3 hours driving on crap roads to get there after being a work that morning, and I couldn't believe what I saw, it was horrendous!

Car was an absolute dog. The paint work was bad all round and filthy, basically needed a full respray, brake pad warning on the dash and all the discs looked shot, stank of god knows what inside, it looked like a car that been used in several bank robberies!. To top it off they knew we were travelling quite a distance and hadn't even bothered to get it out of the showroom( if I could call it that!) and anywhere near a road to be able to drive it as there were about 50 cars blocking it in!

So called high performance car specialists, yeah right :-)

Serves you right for going to see a Vauxhall...

Just kidding, same happened to me before I bought my current car. It was an Octy estate and I was told it was "mint" and it looked very good in the photos. I drove 100 miles to find it lit up like a Christmas tree, filthy, seat collapsed, rips in the headlining and a flat! I stayed 2 minutes and asked him why he described it as mint, to which he replied he got it muddled with another car. As far as I could see there was only one other car at the property and it was a 02 Ka!!!
