Great thanks to Colin and his helpers for organising a perfect track day and great national Skoda meet.

I had great time on track (despite having to get up 5am to make it for the briefing ;) ). Car was working brilliantly never missing a beat despite track being really demanding - right front hub spacer ring (my rims have bigger hole that Fabia's hub) simply melted and I had to destroy it to take it off last night when I was changing back to daily drive normal road tyres.

Brakes did not burn like on previous track days with OEM pads - Brembo HP2000 pads are excellent!

The only fly in the ointment was I run out of fuel by the end of the morning session so next buy will be 2x20l Jerry Cans :D

Having wrote all that the Highlight of the morning for me was giving Dave (sharkrider) shotgun ride in my car and than riding shotgun in his. Why? Our cars are virtually the same (CTHE engines, Eibach lowering kit, performance brake pads, RS-R's rubber) and the only difference is RARB upgrade Dave installed. My car was also a fair bit lighter with no rear wheels, spare wheel and tools as well as having lighter alloys. Despite all that he was running circles around me in all corners bar one (chicane between two straight in the back of the course).

With lowered suspension and good rubber my car had very little understeer compared to 100% OEM state, yet it had understeer of an oil tanker compared to Dave's setup!

It was quite unreal, even from the passenger seat!!!

RARB most definitely IS THE BEST MOD for MK2 Fabia vRS as far as handling is concerned - I will start saving money now!

Then brakes of course  .

No point in doing any power mods before handling is sorted IMHO.

It is a great pity I will not be able to attend HowFast? at Bedford in two weeks time - would be awesome to see the time difference between the cars.

Lucky you who managed to get a ride with Richard, I will lay in front of the car next time ;)  :D .

BTW,

Did I see lots of cement dust round about the pit entrance corner on the above vid? Was it from the Rover? What happened?

Again, enormous thanks to Coling and Co for organising and for the best track day crowd of Briskie drivers I ever had a pleasure to be on track with. It makes for an exceptionally different experience when drivers on the track day are so high class, polite, and with spotless track side manners as Briskie crowd!   .

Looking forward to the next time!

Is posting a cool down lap sore wierd form of teasing?

Or some post alcohol / tiredness mistake!

The Brisk Rover popped a line to the oil cooler, then proceeded to dump oil and coolant over the track as it set fire to itself.

Good news is, all are fine and the car is easily fixed. Caught very quickly.

To echo above, thanks very much to Colin for organising the day, I enjoyed myself a lot. I need to start saving for some decent tyres and better brake pads. :D

Great day on track yesterday. Big thanks to Colin for organising it all. Driving standards were good all day and it was interesting to compare the Clio to more powerful but heavier machinery!

I got some video footage but it will probably be a while before I get round to editing it to remove all the dull warm up/cool down laps.

Were you in the black clio?  I remember following you through a few corners thinking how well it looked to be going around them.

Glad nothing serious resulted from the fire and nobody got hurt!

Dammit for missing it! I hope somebody has video footage at least...

I forgot about my misshap!

I was driving around and suddenly hear a loud hiss and cabin was starting to fill with funny smelling gas and weird looking mist. Needles to say I almost pooped myself thinking that either my fire extinguishers went off or something was coming in from the engine compartment!

I kept going not wanting to red flag the session to be recovered.

The crap was still pumping into the cabin and then I realised when I was clearing the cabin from all flotsam before the track running I must have missed the emergency tyre repair cannister.

Then I was OK and just went to the pits.

The bl00dy thing went off under the passenger seat and made an almighty mess :(.

Not looking forward to cleaning it up properly...

Yep that's me! Running AD08s (same as the brisk rover) with cup shocks, eibach springs and a rear ARB. Yours was going very well, true to the "no smoke, no poke" motto! Would've quite liked a passenger ride but was too busy driving my own car to ask. :)

Anyone know what engine was in that A8 that was going round in the afternoon? I was following him for a couple of laps - catching him under braking and through the corners then driving through a cloud of diesel smoke on the straights! I should have footage of that and also hopefully of me following the brisk rover going into corners on three wheels!

Anyone know what engine was in that A8 that was going round in the afternoon?

It was a remapped 3.0 TDI.

I have a video uploading at the moment, which may take a day! Youtube's being slowwww!!

You're near London too up here in the sticks my upload speed is 0.12 Mbps ;)

I'm closer to France than London :D

Upload speed at the minute 8-14 kb per second :(

Didn't think the A8 was mapped?

So there were two big Audi Barges sooting away in the afternoon then?

Least you are laughing about it! Hope you manage to get it sorted alright.

That was the A5, no?

I know my A5 is mapped not sure on the 8 though, seemed standard to me

It was fettled at the same place as yours!

Was it? I thought it was standard :o

It smoked far too much to be standard.

Yours didn't seem to as much though.
