Rain is the only chance I've got in the citigo. Windshield waxed. Actually it's more fun in the rain.  I find I learn more in the damp. Lets face it on the real roads, damp or slippery conditions is where you benefit from a bit of practise.

Don't forget a roll of tape/duct tape to make your car even faster, or some would say, protect your light glass a little. Never been an issue for me since plastic though.

It rained when I was at Cadwell, the Federal 595 tyres are quite interesting when it is wet as I found out.

4 Motion :o

4 Motion :o

Yes, 4 motion in the wet with about 3-4mm on the tyres.   I was going in a bit fast, all driver error of course.

Cannot beat the laws of physics! Somebody told me 4 wheel drive just means 4 times more trouble when it does let go.  I think they were a cynical rear wheel drive fanatic.

I always blame these events on the tyres--------weather-----------track-------------oil --------rabbit on track------I've got a book of excuses ;)      It wasn't my fault guv!

I don't mind the blame so much as the fun in working out how and why.

I'd hazzard those were mainly damp white lines and a bit of kerb clipping unsettling the rears. The puma makes it through on a wider non kerb line; maybe slower though. Although no bobbly rough camera shake tells. Are the kerbs smooth at Cadwell?

I know at Anglesey (old clockwise) coming up out of the hill exit before radar, I managed exiting a right hand corner to get a counter-clockwise spin in a FWD car. I basically began to move the nose of the car on tarmac, the rear on the 'extra plastic' grass. Net result back came around. Was good fun and all. Passenger was loving it, her first time on track too. Great impression that left :)

Just too fast on entry, simple as, if we went in at around 40mph we were fine, 45-50 we spun out lol.  The Golf is light in the rear end too, nothing out there except the rear subframe, maybe I need to put the battery back there to shift some weight?

Colin, I am not a fan of the kerbs at any circuit as they can mountainous! May have clipped the white line but definitely not the kerbs.

The excuses is a good one, later on the same day we followed a Clio that did run a rabbit over, I will try and find it on my video footage.

Hopefully I'll be putting some GoPro cameras in cars going out on track.  The footage will go towards a little National Meet video :)

Ihave just been flying my model helicopter, and smashed a blade , luckily I have some spares and have just relaced the bottom pair... if it still enough (not too much wind!) and you (or someone else) has a shock proof camera, I would be happy to tie it to the copter and take some ariel shots! :) I'll bring it along if its not too windy!

Cheers for the kind offer, I don't think it'll be able to lift a GoPro though :(  There's another camera operator that'll be there on Sunday who has an actual Quadcopter, so if it's not too windy you'll probably see that flying about :)  Feel free to still bring yours though, if you get a chance there are plenty of open spaces where you can fly it!

Lowering tyre pressure helps. Forgetting about dry track racing lines is the key though, much grip and exit speed can be found in surprising places ;).

I had some cheap Chinese tyres in wet once. Instructor said that he never been in any vehicle on any track with less grip than I had, ball bearings he was exclaiming to other instructors during a break. :D. Still, the less grip the more you learn about your car and your own limits. You can still go very fast but not on RS-R's and taking dry lines ;)

RSR's still work in the wet, as long as they dont have to cut deep water... I used them well in the wet at coomb.. BUT James had no weight on the nack of his car! hench "back off oversteer" ;) I'll be impressed if I can spin the vRS ;)

quadcopters are MUCH better in windy conditions :) some cool tech in them now.... I have been looking at them, but the car mods come before ! lol..

True, yest to spin my one as well :).

Now I joined the RS-R club

My tyres have a lot less tread than those Jabo, you can see in this picture mine are almost down to the wear indicators. They are ok in the wet and we had little drama other than that one corner.

In the dry they are good.

I'd hazzard those were mainly damp white lines....................

Pesky damp white lines and an enthusiastic first corner at Colerne in 2009....

and then that embarrassing return to the paddock and everybody can see the grass and mud in your wheels, everybody knows you have been off

Good fun though, especially when you bring it home in one piece

Plenty of space left, lots in the PM. We've arranged another PM briefing at 13:30 for anyone looking to go out for the afternoon session.

In short, we're losing money on the track hire even at 40 slots all booked. I really want to see the track used, so expect a push on the day, otherwise it's a bit daft looking at an empty track... Richard @ Blyton agrees. Final push commencing.
