Camping with the Citigo...

Featured Replies

Right so me and two friends are off to Cornwall this summer for 10 days. I have a Citigo Elegance with 60/40 rear folding seats, and we need some advice. Has anyone actually taken their Citigo camping? Or on  any long journeys for that matter? We are obviously taking camping supplies with us, but as for food we can always get that when we're down there. We live in Lincoln so we'd be doing close to 400 miles each way plus travelling when we're down there. We also want to take bikes. Has anyone got any advice and does anyone think what we've set is even possible?

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

Cam :)

Or has anyone got any advice or anything at all?

we've been many long distances in ours :) its quite good... motorways are easy ,,,, the only thing it needs is a foot rest ! and better adjustment on the wheel....

I think we're more concerned about doing 400 miles in a car packed to the roof with stuff, tent, stove and chairs plus bags and other stuff. D'you think its possible?

Well, rather you than me,as good as the Citigo is I think you are pushing your luck with what you have in mind-sounds more like a Superb is needed.

I think we'll have to see closer to the time, although I believe Mario can carry all that! Otherwise I might have to sweat talk my parents to let me borrow the mk3 octavia estate!

easy.. the car is very capable :) make sure your tyre pressures are set to "full load" :)

Nice to hear some positive! Yeah will make sure they are!

I've used our Citigo for our holiday which was 3 adults one large choccie Labrador ,boot full under parcel shelf and a roof box on top and had no problems but that was only leicester to Norfolk .

daughter took hers from kent to devon the other week for a weeks holiday, packed well to limit and it survived ok and returned 70+mpg

I sometimes carry a full drum kit in mine with no discernible change in performance. It amuses my band mates no end. :-)

remember to drive steadily until you get used to the extra weight you are carrying. braking will be less effective.

i guess putting the bikes on a roof rack or rear rack. getting a roof box may help with managing the space you have, but may prove costly.

i can imagine the citigo will cope well.
