Getting Fuel out of the tank advice for the poor man

Featured Replies

Changing car in a week and I will not use three quarters

New car has no fuel in and no dealer is going to pay for mine

Track day ?

Vacuum pump?

it cannot be sucked out in anyway through the filler tube as there is a mesh to prevent syphoning. I had the same debate with my old Audi, and in the end it was sold with the 40 litres of petrol still in the tank.

The fuel system runs at a very high pressure, so it's not really possible to even tap into the fuel lines safely.

I have removed fuel by removing the tank fuel pump under the back seats, but to remove it fully you need to pop off the fuel lines which are a right sod.  Prob not worth breaking something for a bit of fuel....

Once that fuel pump is out the way you literally look down into the main body of the petrol tank.

Same as above

Disconnect fuel filter and keep cycling the ignition or opening the drivers door that should prime the pump and empty the tank fairly quickly. Just be careful the clips on the fuel lines can break.

I was going to suggest have ride around the intresting sights around Morecambe to waste some fuel, actually forget that you won't use much.
