Columbus question

Featured Replies

I have done a search but it found no results.

I am to take delivery in the next month of my vRS, I was wondering when connecting my iPod Touch, does the Columbus just play whatever files are on the device?

A lot of my music is encoded in Apple Lossless, I am hoping they will just play from the iPod, so if anyone on here has tried Apple Lossless files with a Columbus, it would be great to know whether they work.

I assume I can't play these from the SD card, I will be buying a large SD card for my FLAC & WAV files, according to the brochure these files will play.

Yes it should just play as it the ipod that playing it, not the infotainment.

Thanks very much for the reply, that is great news :)

Actually the Columbus accesses the files over USB directly, but it can still play Apple lossless (ALAC) fine. Album artwork works too, but not video or sound from apps (ie. spotify etc)

Thanks it is great that it will work, I only have free spotify on my iPad so sound not an issue.

Great choice of album for the picture, my favourite track is Spoons.

I use an iPod classic, works a treat with full searching of the artists etc, shows all the id3 information and the artwork. I can't see why people would get the apple pack and what's to gain?

As for Spotify just use your phone to stream via Bluetooth and you still get track info and album artwork :-)

I believe the difference is if you want full control of your iPod such as playlists on the head unit, you either need the Mitsumi when you have the Bolero & Amundsen, if you specify the Columbus it comes with Apple functionality without having to specify the Mitsumi connection.
