Seat FR 1.8t - spares or repair

Featured Replies

Here we have a red SEAT Ibiza FR 1.8t with 44k on the clock.

Bought from a salvage auction, damage is broken front NS wheel (now runing on spare), power steering doesn't work (still drives) and passenger seat side airbag has gone off.

All the bits you need to make a 1.8t Fabia... or put it back on the road.

£1,000

No accident damage to the bodywork.

Rich any idea on why the power steering doesn't work?

It's broken.

Or more accurately the car has had a whack to the front driver side wheel hard enough to break it which I suspect has damaged a seal, the rack or ???

In other words... No, not really as I haven't had a look yet.  Just not had time or thought about it.

Steers and drives fine, just lacking power assistance.

Can this be driven legally as it stands?

Nope a category D needs to go to an MOT centre iirc before legal

Balls :(

Can I buy the Fantasy green Fabia as well please for the 20vt to go into? ;)

With it being a write off, I am not sure if the following applies, but with an MOT test booked, you ARE allowed to drive an untaxed and untested car to the MOT station.  This is how I got back my red 924 from 40 miles away which had been SORN for 18 months.  MOT test booked, drove to test centre with no tax or MOT, got through MOT and I got it taxed to get it home.

I certainly wouldn't drive it from London to West Yorkshire for an MOT. :D

Nope and the cops can quote the small print with the nearest iirc

I miss my seat. This would have been interesting :( Bloody stupid laws for our own safety rubbish.

Low loader transport isn't that cost prohibitive. :)

I think Richard should swing by with it before the Blyton meet... its only 80miles away :)

I think even the aa offer car transport quotes online

There is a car transport quote site somewhere where you put what you want from A to B and people bid for work,

Cousin got a car from london cheaper than it would have cost me to take trailer down on xc90 to go get it for her,
