Lowest prices for genuine Skoda parts?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a UK Skoda retailer that is able to discount spare parts?

My local dealer is quoting list -10% (collection only).

Bickerton Group or Rainworth Skoda (www.skodaparts.com) are list -20% (free delivery).

Horton Skoda (www.theskodashop.co.uk) are also list -20% but charge for delivery.

Superskoda are considerably more expensive especially after shipping is added from the Czech Republic.

TPS (Trades Part Specialists) were quite expensive too (I'm a non-trade customer) and they are also collection only.

Is there anyone else I should try?

I wondered if joining Freedom might open up some additional possibilities with any of the forum sponsors?

Thanks.

I'm quite staggered that there doesn't seem to be a 'big' site dedicated to VAG parts considering the size of the group (I haven't found it if there is one  ). From my Vauxhall days there was a site called Vauxhall World Parts and they would have 1000's of parts right across the range. Also 2 of the forums I used to frequent alot. One would allow to access to the clubs Vauxhall tradeclub account if you were a paid up member and the other used to be able to dish out Halfords trade cards to paid up members.

Skodaparts.com charge for delivery but they still seem to come in cheaper I've used them a few times and the service been excellent.

I think the reason Skoda Parts have offered me free delivery is due to the cost of the order (£300+).

It looks like these guys are my best bet.

Shops and mail order.

Looks like 15% off list here.

Mainly pattern and alternate suppliers,

I used them 20 years ago and they were brilliant.

Pattern brake discs for Mk 1 Golf were better than the originals - lasted longer and didn't wear unevenly.

Plus, you haven't got the "Saga" factor creeping in i.e. suppliers for one type of car.

When B & Q ran automotive sections in their stores their generic and pattern bits were v. cheap.

Euro CarParts do supply genuine parts but they are in different boxes.   You need to clarify with the salesman if they are OE spec. items though.

Freedom members used to have a discount code for ECP, not sure if this is still the case though.

I've thought exactly the same thing around parts, especially looking for some Yeti accessories for myself, ahead of Monday's collection :)

A Freedom benefit with the like of Skoda Parts or Skoda Shop would seem a decent aim to me. I'll drop a line to Colin.

Hi guys,

Thanks to Steve for the pm, easy to miss posts.

Supply of parts came over my note pad a good 18+ months ago. It came via an sidedoor looking at etka online/wiki projects.

I've been speaking to dealers for a range of reasons. Other than the two you mention very few seem to want to do parts online, or get stuck in here offering deals... how mad is that?  A few have thought about it or are about to embark. So perhaps, minds are changing.

The likes of ECP; which I'll use from now on to generically describe 3rd party factors,  are massive now. So despite someone trying to tell me there is no money in parts, they have done well. However on some parts the race to the lowest price has meant little margin to work with. I forget the details now, but a fabia part was requested recently with a ECP price. I spent 10 mins looking it up, checking with my supplier that the price was right. After vat there was 10p margin... 10p for 10 minutes, my supplier didn't have it in stock though. Of course for every one of those there are good deals. A good deal however is only good if it completes. Despite being cheaper than ECP some have still gone to ECP.

TPS and other factors are coming to retail. My plans are still in motion, although slowed a little due to trying to find some client work to pay my bills. Double edged sword, parts sales could be worth doing ;) But only, in my view, if done differently/better.

In short I have and do have a line on 3rd party or aftermarket parts. The biggest challenge I have is data and getting the right parts, but that really is the only issue technically.

What I envisaged and still at a high level do, is a set of dealers supplying us genuine Skoda parts. A set of sponsors supplying us performance parts and then the gap in the middle which is ECP territory and where I was focused on. How I wanted to add value was also add fitting, be that our local sponsors or wider appeal. Think blackcircles but for parts, it works in my head and helps to make online work for real world small independant garages. Look at halfords, they are/have moving to the we'll fit it for you model.

The only snag is my own belief this is worth more than chasing clients for work. i.e. as a startup would I invest in it... which is what I have to do with my time, turning other work away is a SWMBO red card.  I'm also not a parts guy, I'm a web database guy. I do know one end of a grease nipple from another, but maybe not my fuel pump from my oil pump. So I can't advise on parts, which is possibly a fundamental extra that the ECP counter guys can do. Parts websites do big business, ebay, amazon all sell parts now. I know where a lot of the known branded stuff comes from, as I call the same warehouse ;)

In July/August a hybrid marketplace/shopping will be coming to briskoda, it will allow independents and small traders to sell direct to us under one 'roof'; think amazon, but the emphasis is on the seller and service, so not price. That will be fairly consuming but also proving of the market via our one small portal to the world. I outsourced this to get it done, hence I'm fairly confident of the timescales :)

I should add I am doing parts ordering. It was launched as a concierge service, but as per above very time consuming. So it will be coming back but as a you need to know the part numbers service. If I have he parts its a very easy and more secure lookup/verification. Otherwise it's guessing that ABC1234 does for your car. Once thats back makes like Bosch, Osram will be available. From early tests I can easily match ECP rates on 80% with next day delivery FOC on most, otherwise £4.95.

So if you know the part numbers you want... email parts @ briskoda.net.

Thanks Wardy and Colin, I do have the part numbers, email sent.

The parts I am after are not available as aftermarket / patterned parts so I'm forced down the route of genuine Skoda parts.

LED rear light clusters for a MkII (pre-FL) Superb Twindoor. The ones fitted as standard to the L&K.

These are the prices from Skoda Parts, list minus 20%, free shipping...

Outer clusters: £130.00 inc. VAT per unit
3TD945095 (Left) - 3TD945096 (Right)

Inner clusters are £60.00 inc. VAT per unit
3TD945093 (Left) - 3TD945094 (Right)

£380.00 inc. VAT in total.

I'll check your mail in the morning. But if it's those parts, then it's a dealer job. I would of thought either of the two dealers mentioned above would be the best bet. Or your local one with a gentle prod, is it a DMK... dealer? I ask as I've got a callback next week with them, re `here`.

To consider though, they would be highly unlikely to be shelf parts, so a special order. Special orders tend not to be the best price.

I presently do not have; nor likely too, a source of trade genuine skoda parts, so I can't hint as to what's in them.

Thanks Colin, yes those are the parts. Three of the four items are in stock in the UK, one is on backorder but in stock in the Czech Republic so will be here in the next 7-10 days.

I rang round a number of dealers, DM Keith in York, Pulman in Durham, Hortons (theskodashop) and Rainworth (skodaparts).

All of them quoted list price minus (approx.) 10%, except Rainworth who quoted list minus 20%. Due to the value of the order they agreed to ship for free too.

I was cheeky with each of them and asked for extra discount. None of them would (or could?) budge. If you don't ask you don't get!

Thanks for the help though, I suspected that I'd be limited to potential sources but thought I'd check by posting this thread to be sure  .

Good result, with both the supplier and price

Glad you're sorted.
