Blind Spot Mirrors

Neily03, in answer to your question "do people not look over their shoulder anyway"...not if they are a BMW driver on the M25, they just pull out in front of you. Have you also noticed most BMWs indicators don't work. You'd think the BMW garages would have noticed this common fault by now wouldn't you?

And there was me thinking it was Audi drivers who had dodgy indicators nowadays. And Jag XF drivers :) :)

Audi drivers are the new BMW drivers.  Most BMW drivers (except maybe me  ) are actually nice people these days... unlike the ****** in a white vRS estate that sat up my arse on the M5 this evening.

I haven't noticed them to be any less effective than my O2 mirrors ... maybe its a combination of adjustment and my height ???

I liked the mk2 wider view, and found the auto tilting passenger mirror useful when reversing. Also I miss the electric folding on my Vrs. It was the main thing I wasn't happy with when placing the order.

They are a backward step

I don't look over the shoulder but I move forward towards the wheel using all the mirror. Works for me.

I forgot to say, I agree with Miz, as an ex motorcyclist I always use the "life-safer" automatically.

Oddly enough, When I drove my fathers Focus Estate, it was a pain because the pillars/ roofline/ positioning, completely obscured my view.

But no issues for me on the 03 .... if you feel you have a blind spot issue, a stick on blind spot eliminator is only a few quid.

If you find a source for them let me know, as far as I can find out, only replacement glasses are Skoda one's and they are the same as the ones fitted, £55.00 per glass.

At the moment I have a "baby watching" mirror to cover the blind spot, which works well.

Miz - if you find an alternative for the "baby watching" mirror, I would be more than happy to take it off your hands for a fair price - been trying to hunt this piece since months now. What colour is it by the way? cheers

For years I set my mirrors so that I could see the edge of my car on the edge of the mirror. Then someone suggested this was not the way to do it. You should adjust them further out than that so that you can't see any of your own car in the mirror. I did that on the last car (Mondeo) and did that on the Octy when I bought it. I don't see any blind spot when they are set up like that. A car in the outside lane on the M-way is in the mirror or in my peripheral vision next to me - often the back of the car is still in the mirror for all but the smaller super-mini's.

Of course I still look over the shoulder.
