General issues with electricity, oil consumption & mystery music

@Glitchbeat. re mirrors and windows. if you have got enough power to perform an 'unlock' from the remote then its probably not to do with the battery either on the car or the remote. It is interesting that the battery drain has manifested itself around your window/ mirror issue. If they don't solve it I would be inclined to remove the fuse(s) for the lecky windows and leave it overnight to see if the battery still drains. One way or the other you could rule that out (on in) depending on the result. The problem with electrical faults you can't 'see' them as you can with mechanical ones.

Thanks for your reply, Zee.

I got a call from the Skoda dealer 1,5 hours ago, I was informed that they found the electrical leak, and it was linked to some wiring or component powering the driver's seat heater. The disconnected that and the amp drainage went from 5 til almost nothing. As for the oil consumption, they recommended I change the EGR valve, due to oil clogging, being likely the reason the engine lamp is on. Which would be around 550£. Adding up to that, a plausible turbo change if that is whre the oil is burning, would be ca. 2200£, so by the looks of it I could possibly be facing some expensive and extensive repairs if things go proper south.

They also recommended changing the glowplugs in all the sylinders for a total of 210£, seeing one of them was starting to wear out.

Glad the electrical issue seems to have been found - one off the list.

A friend of mine over here had his Beemer diesel professionaly engine treated with a cleaner, cost him about £150 and took a day for them to do. He says it has transformed his motor now all the c**p has gone and no parts changed, might be worth exploring.

Thanks for your reply, Zee.

If thats the case sell it on pdq, don't put hand in pocket you'll simply chase and chase until you reach the point a new one would've been cheaper,

I watch the guys at work plugging their sheds up, thing is time of the road costs, so does parts and so does labour,

If you do want to keep it, walk away from Skoda dealers, a good honest indy will clean your valve and re-cart your turbo for less than the egr cost from a Sloda dealer, £2200 for a turbo ffs, Turbo direct from Garrett will be around £1000 and 3 hours labour, nowhere near £2200, talk about theiving.

There's an old saying taught to me a long time ago,

You can't make a good car out of a bad one.

Have you bothered to look at his location, and check out the cost of living there?

Na I hadn't, I saw the £ signs in his post and didn't spot the £ being behind the numbers,

@ OP and Zee, there is an aircraft engine cleaner fluid you can get hold of (this is the one you mean isn't it Zee?) this does indeed do a thorough internal pipe and parts clean.

Aye, at least now I have a list of repairs that has to be done on the car. I still believe the turbo is the main issue here, but the EGR has to be changed anyway. As mentioned, the previous owner has through tuedsay to reply to my demands, from there the case is being taken care of by the Gov. Consumer Council. If the seller so decides to repair all the faults over giving me the total purchase amount back, I will make sure it happens through the best Skoda dealer in the country. (Based on reputation and experience from other customers)

I could look into the engine cleaning, but as long as the issue is there with the turbo burning oil and clogging valves, I am pretty certain it won't last long before I'm on the same chapter all over again.

When it comes to location and prices, everything is relevant..  :p

Also, I noticed my typo in the previous post, been a while since I moved here and some traits change! :notme:
