Folding! Whats happened?

Featured Replies

The team production is down 1/3! Have some peeps been having some PC troubles lately? Our weekly production is down from 64000+ to just above 40,000. :( maybe we're just all working on mega scoring WUs :D

well i foudn out my computer had two folding things going (dont ask how!!!) so i deleted both and installed anther one and it is currently doing a WU consisting of 5000frames!!!

Just got PC 4 back up and running after a PSU failure 3 weeks ago. Good excuse to upgrade the motherboard, processor, RAM and a new hard drive for good measure so my production should be going up now :D

Chris

Been on holiday 2 weeks, so was down 3 CPU's. All running again now though.

I think my work machine has crashed over weekend.

just let me check

That's probably the downturn explained then :)

Steve

My interweb has only just come back on.

I've been happily climbing the user charts this week :D

So too have i :D but it is getting more and more an uphill struggle(need more cpu power now to see me move in the near future - like another 10 machines  )

I'm gonna catch you 150bhp......... in about a year!

Noticed your 24hr average points score seems to have increased somewhat, anything to declare Goochie

well I know I wasn't adding THAT much to the totals... but I too had a coupla pc crashes last week, and my pc was off most of the weekend cos I was rearranging my house but it's up and running again now so.... fingers crossed??

Well, according to the overtake list we should climb 8 places in the next week, all things being equal ... which will be a very good performance. Unfortunately it takes me forever to complete a WU, so my contributions are rather lumpy. :(

And Goochie's about to be the latest person to clamber over me up the league table! :( :(

Nothing to declare in particular other than my new CAD machine (64 bit processor). Its on 24/7 but does most of its folding overnight while its idle....... however it has been idle during the day today ;)

Was busy folding all of last week while I was on my hols - amazingly my boss diddnt notice I left it on (screen off) after he told me to make sure it was off - oh well.

so how many you got it running on now, just incase i need to be concerned ;) think i may get it on another machine in the near future at work, then i'll have to get my comps at home strtd on it ;) (got 4 there)

Looks like we could make the Top 250 by the weekend.

hmmm..... current WU is taking 118 mins a frame

anyone else had one take that long?? its predicting a finish date of Sept 20th  only on frame 56 of 250.....

PussCat - should reward you with big points for that one.

I see that Briskoda.net has now broken into the top 250; we are currently at 249

just found http://vspx27.stanford.edu/psummary.html

I guess you lot have seen it already.... but it tells me that this WU that's takin me ages is 'only' gonna give me 600 points.... p1149_RIBO_semihelixfrom1140 is the one.... and that seems to be the highest score possible from one WU?

Maybe there's something wrong with my pc..... starting to wonder if I need to do a rebuild!

oh... and it says we're at 245 now!

rebuilding the PC wont influence your points outcome.

From reading the folding forums on the Stanford website it seems that points are awarded in relation to the ammount of computer resource you dedicated to the cause. This is calculated from a benchmark computer at Stanford. Therefore if your PC completes a work unit in 2 days when their computer took 7 you'll get big points, but if your folding takes longer you'll get less points.

Its not just the total time of the work unit but the time per frame and the size of the unit.

The weekly amount is nipping back up to 50,000 a week. I still think some of the top folders are taking a break though. ;)

There are teams now on their way to overtake us too!

I know that, but my concern is that my pc seems to be running a bit slower than it was a coupla weeks ago... wondering if somethiing has 'got in' and is using up resources! Having said that, Norton etc haven't managed to find anything.....
