Looks like a parts bin special to me. Would have thought Skodas design team would put more effort into it

  • LOL How nothing changes.   My very much tongue in cheek analysis of the Briskoda life cycle of a new Skoda model.   1.  Rumours of the new model are leaked.  Excitement - has anybody seen the pict

  • Sharkrider, hope you feel better soon.   Well that car is a bit of a 'Munter' IMO. Not 'Squat & Emotional', like the CEO of Skoda said, just looks a bit **** and would bring a tear to a glass

  • Mk1 vRS still reigns supreme in the looks department! Or maybe I'm just biased

If I was to go for another vehicle from VW /SEAT /SKODA I reckon all I'd go for in the fabia dept would be the equivalent Ibiza

Yup. Not convinced at all. Front isn't too bad IMO but really do not like the rear. Like you say Shark, not sporty at all. It's not the worst looking car ever made but much prefer the look of the MK2. Don't think I would personally buy a mk3.

Seems as though they really are only looking at the Octavia for the VRS. If that's the case then I'll be upgrading to an Octavia few years down the line or even the superb 3.6 V6 :-)

That car, in that colour ...

I've always said that colour only works on small cars. That car's too big for that colour, it may look better in others. But that's like saying a dog turd would look better in a different colour...it'd still look like ****!

Hope to God Skoda are reading this..... the consensus is, a boring mish mash, playing safe.... I am torn between what someone else said "may end up with a seat"

OR

More reason to keep my MK2......

I think this is more likley for me,as I'm really happy with my current car, and the "drive" or "cost" or spec needs to be something special to tempt me into one of these..... still looks like an OLD fiat stilo to me.

We should all e-mail a link of this thread to somebody at skoda HQ or something ;)

The ibiza always has looked sportier IMO. With a 140hp diesel option too iirc?

I can see people going that way tbh.

Either that, or a few might go for the more expensive polo gti

Yes, but the 2.0 diesel 140ps is only available in the 3 door. :dull:

Not 5 door or estate.

It doesn't look like a new or modern car. It won't age well at all. In an age where small cars are getting more quirky designs or names this really won't appeal to many people at all. It looks like a poor copy of a Kia.

The circle around the headlights makes it look a bit boss eyed. I didn't think it was possible for design to move backwards

Agreed, step backwards in comparison to MK2 in Monte or vRS versions but better than standard  Fabia MK2. Still, some intern had a field day with pulling panels from Octy and photochopping them to suit Fabia's frame. Disappointed as there's so much design talent around !

It is all to easy to fall into unified, modular architecture trap...

"MQB stands for Modularer Querbaukasten, or modular transversal toolkit"

http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/mqb-platform-explained-2014-3-21.

To me it looks like they simply could not be bothered...

The front lights and fogs have definitely been Photoshopped from an Octavia.

As Richard mentioned, they have followed audi's route of using the same design, just adjusting the scale on the scanner. Shame really

The front end is crowded and the rear is just fugly. Why put those creases in the boot panel? Yuk. I probably won't keep my mk2, I certainly won't be trading it for one of those.

Looks like a rapid and I hate the rapid. No likey

Looking at it more and more I can't help but think it has potential......

It the roof height was just an inch or two lower I think it would be a heck of a lot better!

It will sell well IMO ! , there will be plenty of the blue badge brigade buying this shopping trolley

I guess it's the new look...works on the Octy, even the Rapid spaceback isn't too bad but that's very....very...Kia-ish?

Not so many 'Blue Badge' brigade around these days in low rent cars.,

The majority seem to that get a rather nicer Leased car from Motability Finance with all the bits and pieces rather than some Budget Skoda. Driving Cars that are nearer £20,000 than £10,000

Mainly you see them in French Cars or Korean ones built in Europe.

Quite a few in Japanese cars built in the UK.

Apparent Poor residuals and only 3 year Warranty because Skoda have no belief in the quality of the build of their products

does put people off if actually 'buying' with Cash Money.

Actually once Skoda does its 'Reduce the Stupidly High RRP that they have, just to get them sold & out of Dealerships, they are quite good as keepers,

but not so good if you need to trade one in anyplace other than at a Skoda Dealership.

& the Blue Rinse Brigade seem to get the Volkswagen, maybe something like a Face Lifted Polo due to it being an upmarket product.

(just dont tell them its a Skoda by another name.)

Maybe Skoda can introduce a 5 or 7 year Warranty as Standard with the Mk2 Fabia FL Replacement,

since they have had 7 years to get this one totally reliable & problem free.

It is just an Evolution Model after all.

george

Agree George that a lot of brb are in better cars now even 1series , we say its just a skoda with a different badge and after seeing the mk7 golf I may have to agree as it wasn't well made, the previous golf IMO as I've got one is/ seems to be better glued together , I hope this is not the way vag are trying to make their cars less expensive ! There's only so much meat /fat they can cut before it has a detrimental effect on the quality and personally I think it's been reached, my next car will not be from the vag group ! Maybe ? I'd like a superb L&K though :)

Thank you Skoda so much

Every time I own a car and the new shape is released I feel a small bit of envy each time I see one

Not this time though. :)

Yes, love the Mk 3. Looks right in my eyes. Funny but when the Mk 2 came out everyone said it was too upright, too narrow etc etc, but now we've had it for several years everyone loves the Mk 2. Now Skoda gives us what everyone said they wanted in the first place, and now that is too this and too that...but we'll all love it when it arrives that's for sure.

I have yet to see Skoda ever call it a 'Mk3' in anything i have read,

just always 'The New Fabia', or Fabia Replacement.

Surely even the lowest priced MK2 Fabia FL Replacement will have Disc Brakes all round.

None with Rear Drums that they do not bother to Coat against External Corrosion.

& hopefully the Gauky Design is so that no Water is Running in the Door or Hatch as you open them

A whole range of Accessories available at Launch would be good.

With no Confusion at Dealeships over Mudflaps fitting or not.

Clearly understood Servicing Details that even the most stupid Saleasperson can not misunderstand would be good.

A whole new Owners Manual written in English by someone that has an understanding of the English language,

and not just badly translated from Czech or German would be just the job.

Choice of wheels and colours can make all the difference.

I'd rather drive this

The mk2 is still too tall and narrow looking in Hatch form.

I've only ever bought estates, which look better due to the longer roofline.
