So, as you can tell, I haven't abandoned the Octavia option - at least not yet!

I really need some more thoughts and ideas on the ride quality issues, different springs, different wheels/tyres etc.

Oh, and confirmation from someone about multi-link on a UK spec L&K 4x4....

Thoughts please!

Neil

Multilink is on the 4x4. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/octavia/63943/skoda-octavia-estate-4x4

Perhaps not on the 105bhp diesel, but with 150bhp or more you get multilink.

Thank you Gromie.

Anyone have any thoughts on whether the multi-link suspension will have a (hopefully positive!) effect on the ride quality?

Neil

All 4x4's get multilink and ESC Sport; they get the multilink as its the only way the rear differential can be made to fit.

I hear you RE the Passat...in the lower specs it does have a bit of an old mans car feel and doesnt do alot to excite but with GT spec and above i think its a rather nice thing.....arguably better seats and it is without doubt a better detailed car (though the full width vents are a funny quirk).

Definitely the estate is the better load lugger but the boot in the saloon is still vast.....also benefits from standard folding rear seats so is more practical than alot of saloons its size.

with the mileage im doing for work I am going to have to possibly get shot of the Octavia and take a company car....the Passat GT would definitely up there but also have the choice of a Mk7 GTD 5 door so that'd probably just pip it :-)

Thank you Gromie.

Having been in a Mk3 Estate the other week, the ride was certainly better than the hatchback. So assuming it had multilink suspension. Don't all estates have multilink?

Nope. 4x4 models, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol and the CR184.

It's been a little quiet on this thread, how is everyone getting on with their L&Ks then?

Looks like my beep error has been solved now along with some coaching on the set up screens and I've now disabled the sensors barring on reversing, so I am super happy!

My next task is the power boot close from remote as all the ECU work is complete.

I've decided to come up-to-date and ditched the spreadsheet for fuel economy that I had been running on the Furby, Fuely account has been created i just need to populate.

Getting on well :)

5000 plus miles of trouble free motoring

All my VCDS tweaks done and all the interior lights, sidelights, number plate lights and puddle lights replaced with CREE LEDs.

Just need to wait a week or two until the weather warms up and the winter steelies will be off and the turbines back on. Seeing as we had snow this morning that might be a bit further away than I thought though!
