Cost of replacement screen

Featured Replies

Got a stone chip with a small crack behind it earlier, after a quick check my policy doesn't cover glass damage, any ideas on how ,much a replacement windscreen will be?

To be a MOT fail the stone chip only has to be in drivers field of view

Might be also be posiable to repair using one of those resin injection companys, you always see advitised on TV.

But if you want a windscreen there is one for sale here... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FELICIA-2000-1-3-8V-BREAKING-FRONT-WINDSCREEN-ONLY-/350880371418?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51b21992da but if you look close at the picture of this windscreen there seems to be a mark right in frount of the drivers seat. I'd ask for another photo of it first just to make sure.

I will try ringing the injection companies in the morning but am not holding out hope as the screen is cracked behind the chip,

Home replacement may be an option does anyone have experience of this?

Buying a new screen and rubber from Skoda cost me £99 2 years ago.. that was a bog standard screen no green tint or sun strip etc. but was purchased to DIY. Not sure how much a company would charge

The windscreen rubbers are not available any more from skoda, they stopped doing them about a year ago. Sad times.

I doubt you can make a perfect seal as a diy.

windscreen sealing is a native weak spot already.

without new rubber seal the job is harder.

I would clean all corrosion, use some zinc spray, paint, then use resin all around.

otherwise you'll get water on relay panel and footwell after first rain.

I had a new screen fitted and rubber and sealed in my fun and that cost me £48 mates rates as step dad fits them if you do need a screen you could cut one out from a breakers yard

Turns out it wan't as bad as first thought so was repairable. For info Autoglass wanted £200 for a new screen fitted.
