Sirius Wheel Repair

Featured Replies

Well having kerbed my wheel, I was horrified by the potential cost of repair. Came across smart auto repairs. They had not repaired Sirius wheels before and in fairness to them they were up front about what they thought the finished product would look like, also gave me the name of another specialist repair shop who they would recommend.

We came to an agreement that they would repair a small section of the wheel and if i was not happy, there would be no charge and I could then go to the other supplier. We also agreed a very fair price to complete the job if I was satisfied.

There has been a lot of chat on the forum about alloy repair and I can honestly say I am highly delighted with the result. Have look at the photos of before and after. If you are in the NorthWest and Looking for a competent repair to your Sirius wheels do give Smartaurorepairs a chance. I found both Steve and the Guy who repaired my wheel ( Rick ) to be honest up front guys who offer a good service at a good price. Please note I think they only do a mobile service.

If you look at the Skoda logo on the hub you can orientate to where the repair has been undertaken. ( too much trouble moving the car about to line up the orientation ) :notme:

Yep, you grawnched that good and proper Raptor! Hate the sound it makes too! Anyway, it looks to be a very good refurb there. What did they charge BTW?

They've done a good job

Sadly for me that is a mere kiss compared to what I have done to my front passenger wheel plus my rear passenger wheel. Although I have found a company in Cardiff that do them.

Looking like new. Very impressive

The joys of polished 'diamond cut' alloys.

Manufacturers promote them as a feature. Owning a 6 year old Skoda with polished alloys I would actively avoid a car with them fitted in the future.

Great when in warranty, bloody expensive and ugly when they delaminate out of warranty.

Keep an eye on the damage on the rim directly under the 'a' in SportContiContact 3, this is exactly where water will get under the laquer and eat away at the vulnerable non-painted alloy.

Often referred to as white worm.

Good repair though, especially from a mobile fitter, most wouldn't even attempt a localised repair on a diamond cut wheel.

Is it just the angle of the photo or have they reduced the height of the rim when they have built up the wheel to cover the damage? It looks shallower around the repair than the rest of the rim...

Numbskull for that repair they charge £60 pus vat their charges start at £45 ish to over £100 plus vat depending on the amount of damage. I was quoted £135 plus vat from two other companies.

Silver 1011 no they have not built it up I think it is the quality of my photography . I think the damage under the a was caused by having a new tyre fitted following a pot hole blow out, take your point and I will keep an eye on it thanks . Yes I agree great repair.

Get a lacquer touchup pen and paint over the nick to stop the water getting in before winter sets in and its too late.

I touched mine up with a lacquer pen, after cleaning and drying it. It will at least delay the process before something more drastic has to be done.

Thanks lads for the ideas on a lacquer pen, is that the same as the lacquer that comes with paint touch up kit?

In my case yes.

Thanks, I have had a look at area and it is not scratched, I could remove with my thumb nail what appears to be tyre glue from the fitting.

The guy who repaired my wheel advised me to avoid wheel cleaning products as some are acidic and will remove the protective lacquer. I only use the shampoo that I use for the paint work and then finish off with car wax. Good pointer though!

Looks a quality job.

Whilst searching today came across a Skoda spares site showing "coming soon" the Sirius wheels at £140 each not sure if that plus vat or not. However, if they do not have any it does not matter what price they show:0)
Cover up job £50 ish refurb to showroom condition £135 plus vat oooch!

Hi Lawlesstce, posted this in June, pleased to see they are finally in stock, yes agree if the only price i could get for a repair was close to the price of a new wheel, then no contest. Stutunstall on this site has access to VAG price lists and they show a replacement wheel at around the £400 mark. Do we know if these are genuine ?

Thanks for the heads up  :notme:

I also came across the following from Scam Advisor: The web hosting for skodaparts is apparently in Germany

How did skodaparts.com get a Trust Score of 100% ?

Skodaparts is Bickerton Skoda in Sheffield. I have done business with them via the website and they were prompt, efficient, and very helpful.

I have bought winter wheels and tyres, paint, and superb jack kit from them.

Very helpful and good service

Thanks lads good to know they are genuine. If I do the wheel in again I will be in contact with them.

Just bought two Sirius wheels from Skoda Parts ( Bickertons Sheffield).

Paid just over £320 inc delivery, spoke to parts guy before ordering online, really helpful and friendly. He confirmed they were the correct parts. Delivery was within 5 days.

Fantastic service, quality, waiting until new tyres required and will then make the swap.

Currently just under 20 K so new tyres due in 2-3 K. Will deal with scuffs on old wheels and then decide what to do with them.

Looking back at my records i purchased a rear parking sensor from them in 2012, did not realise this was the same company. Agree, good service and product.

Cheap wheels ok. I paid €450 earlier this year.

Just called Skoda Parts to double check the prices as my local dealer was asking for a "more expected" £360 inc. I asked why these were so cheap whilst being genuine and the chap responded that these were effectively rejected by Skoda quality control for first fit on their production line. Sounded like more for cosmetic reasons rather than anything more sinister. Based on this and given the price, I think I might get one or two and send our kerbed one off for repair and see what comes back.

Thoughts?

I always ask myself the same question; why is this product so cheap, hence my reservations in earlier posts. However, if the wheels are being rejected for cosmetic reasons only they should be safe to use but would request confirmation from the supplier. I do have it in mind to use them if I need a near wheel.

If you in the Northwest, see my first post

Good luck let us know how you get on
