If only i looked slightly higher and actually captured the taller buildings :P

Wow. Love the panoramic one. Looks ace.

Thanks for the guide - I'll let you know when it gets here :thumbup:

I was just gonna say it looks like Hong Kong. Think I'll just stick with the small one for now. How many shots side by side is that in total? Around 5 or 6?

14 all together, most of them had quite a bit of overlap. if only it was a blue sky and I actually looked a bit higher. I would have got it custom printed. Would look ace up on my uni room lol

ooooooooo thats really good, i used to live in hong kong! :D going back there to see family at christmas , thats really good

Did you use the panorama sticthing feature on the camera?

Wow!

That looks a bit different from what it was like in the late '70s!

I played a little with the contrast and brightness and came up with a slightly punchier version, and an "evening" version:

Left to right - original, slightly enhanced, "evening"

6126.attach

6127.attach

Did you use the panorama sticthing feature on the camera?

The only feature on the camera is that when you take the first picture, ihalf of the first picture shows up on screen, so that you can roughly line the current shot up with it.

Works okayish, but most of the work is done in photoshop, lining everything up and blending the edges.

ncarring - nice stuff, I like the middle one. I presume you used (CTRL-SHIFT-L) or something in Photoshop, but yeh, looks good. The evening one is too dark lol. ive got some night shots of the place too.

Taken with the same camera, but set with a longer shutter speed to capture the lights. I didn't have a stand with me at the time, so I had to place it on a rock lol, so if its slightly wonky, it isnt my faults :P

This is the light show, held everyday at 8pm. Saturdays, they use fireworks aswell, but the day I went, there was a Category 1 Typhoon, so they called it off :( This is a bit blurry because I had to hold the camera still.

Tallest building in Hong Kong.

This is when I discovered the rock to put the camera on. edit:picture was way too long

A few more at here

Great night shots.

I used a very old version of PaintShop Pro and just used the Color-adjust-brightness and contrast tool. I don't have Photoshop - certainly not at work :(

ahh I see, I used to use Paintshop Pro, but its not user friendly, so I just moved on to Photoshop 6 and then 7.

All photo editting softwares are basically the same, good stuff tho

Just need to invest in a new camera now.

Interesting - I've always heard Photoshop is harder to use

Well for photo editting and playing around with images its pretty much quite easy. But if your creating a whole new image from scratch by using filters, effects, etc then it would be difficult.

But ive been playing around with photoshop since I was around 11 or so, so iv'e pretty much learned how to use it. Since then I have now moved onto other programs such as Flash, Dreamweaver and 3Ds Max

Heres a render of what I randomly made from 3Ds Max. I originally started with just the table, and then got a bit carried away and before I knew it, it was a whole interior

:) Don't know about your uni room - panoramicbig would look ace as a banner anywhere

Was this holiday or are you training to be a photographer by trade?

Mo

lol it was a holiday for 2 weeks, but extended it 1 week more, I could'nt get enough of the place. I always like to do a bit of photography here and there, im just a random photographer, never had any training or anything, just turn on and snap away.

very nice

want to start play with pamoramas before the next holiday - the camera has got settings for it and have got photostich and photoshop cs2 so will have to go and play :)

With a Canon A70 do you not have Photostitch? Very easy to use and a lot simpler and quicker than Photoshop CS2 photomerge I find.

I have a Canon PowerShot S70. It rocks.

This panoramic was about 5 quickly taken shots of the Golden Gate bridge in cloud I used the panorama setting to line it up (quickly) but the major stitching was done my the software.

It took seconds, and the tonal differences aren't that bad I thought. Certainly not as good as the Hong Kong one though, which is mint!
