Skoda Mk1 Door/Lights buzzer not working

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a Skoda Fabia MK1 with manual locking doors. The sensor / micro-switch in the driver side door has stopped working so when I leave the lights on, no warning buzz happens, and I keep leaving my lights on.

I was wondering would lock replacement be different to that of a central locking door, also the switch does still work as when the door isn't shut properly the buzzer works so perhaps it can be repaired. This is not a problem with the dash cluster as the indicator tickers etc. still work.

I was hoping someone could tell me if there's a easy fix and/ or what needs doing.

Thanks - Leo

Central locking doors have more than one micro switch, and some motors inside the lock. Manual Locking doors have just one micro switch fitted inside the lock.At the bottom of the lock there is a 3 pin socket and plug ,with  two brown wires, this works the interior lights, and buzzer for lights left on signal. On Central Locking doors this socket and plug has multipins, and wires . If you look back you will see I have posted about a week ago, trying to get a replacement 3 pin plug, without success,as mine has a lug broken off. If you remove the carrier ,you will be able to put your hand up,and carefully check the plug for poor connections. The plug is locked in place with sprung lugs,so do not try pulling on the cable.I have already had this problem,on the passenger side.I have attached a photo to make it clearer for you

This is only accessible by completely stripping the door panels to get to it right?

Yes, the silver metal door carrier has to come off. Some are riveted to the door meaning you have to drill out the rivets and some early ones are just bolted on.
