I know that it is located on the gearbox, I was having a good look round under the car (with the car just flat on the ground) and I couldn't see it, I need to have a look as my reverse lights don't work (I've checked fuses/ bulbs)  and I think that this is the problem. I have the new reverse switch. I was wondering if anyone has done this and/ or knows where about the switch is on the gearbox and if so if I need the car lifting to get to it.

It's on the side of the gearbox below the gearshift mechanism. 2-pin connector - black/red and black/blue wires.

You can get to it easily if you jack up the front of the car, mine went about a year ago, the contact in the switch was worn. Really easy fix, unplug switch, using spanner undo switch (may get a small amount of oil leak out), screw in new switch, plug wiring back in.

Just be aware, I had an issue with my reverse lamps on my VRS, the feed wire to the switch had broken somewhere in the wiring loom, never did find the break, so hard wired a positive feed from the battery to the switch
