Wash mitts.

Featured Replies

What are People using as Wash Mitts on here.

I brought a Sheepskin one from Clean your Car about 3 or 4 months ago and whilst it was brilliant for washing the Car with it has now all but disintegrated.

I was looking about the other day on the Clean your Car forum I think and someone was talking about a Micro fibre noodle Wash Mitt that sounded very promising.

Whatever I buy has to be more durable than the Sheepskin one and obviously kind to the paintwork. I have two others for cleaning the wheels ect.

Dooka wash mit, the large one for the car, plus the wheel one for, well you can guess that!

Follow the instructions and they last for ages. Far better than any MF mit IMO.

Edit: I forgot to ask-did you rinse your mit after use in clean water, then let it dry naturally? If you leave it in the bucket when its still wet it tends to rot the skin. I rinse mine then hold it by one corner and flick it like a whip to get most of the water out then lie it flat to dry. I know ChrisRS has used a Dooka for ages and not had any problems.

I'm afraid you must have been doing something seriously wrong for it to have disintegrated in 4 months. I bought mine from the same source as you and after more than 2 years its still as good as new.

Do you think so?

I always rinse it out and I've always wringed it out and left it to dry. Only on the odd occasion have I left it in an empty bucket for a few hours. Generally a thought I was taking care of it but perhaps not.

Maybe I'll try another one? How much is the Mitt that you recommend out of curiosity?

I use a MF noodle mit. After ive used it i stick it in the washer on a 15min quick wash with my MF drying towels, no detergent just water and then hang to dry on the washing line. Never had no issues

99p B&Q grout sponge - far better than a mitt any day. Used mitts for years but a good soft sponge makes life far easier with rinseless washes like ONR and they last forever...

I had the Megs wah mitt from CYC and that started to fall apart after four months or so. Always rinsed in clean water and allowed to air dry. Replaced with a Dooka wash pad & wheel mitt 18 months ago and the pad is still fine. The wheel mitt is just starting to show slight signs of wear, but I am a little more rough with it!

I've been using generic noodle wash mits that I got from Ebay. Still look brand new after over a year of use. i have one for the wheels and one for the paintwork plus a spare just in case. I just stick mine in the machine along with the other washing and MF towels that I use for drying the car.

I bought them after buying my first black car and realising that the sponge was scratching the hell out of the wafer thin paint on the Honda.

I also like them as they can't accidentally fall out of your hand onto the ground.

I use a Chemical Guys one which like most of their stuff is very good value and I've tried a few different ones. Its been a really good mit and has lasted years, I just rinse it out and sling it in the bucket til next week and it seems indestructable

I have a Meguiars Lambswool one. Works well, but was overpriced.

I find that they shed and leave small hairs on my paintwork.

You need a fine tooth comb and comb them before use Rob ;)

Probably best as a wash pad more than a mitt.

Very tasty too.

Dooka wash pad or a cheaper Adams wash pad from Motorgeek

99p B&Q grout s****e - far better than a mitt any day. Used mitts for years but a good soft sponge makes life far easier with rinseless washes like ONR and they last forever...

Please tell me you're not serious? Coming on the car care section and swearing like that!

I'm currently using a lambs wool Mitt, going to get the supernatural wookie next thou I think. £25.00 is pricey but it is supposed to be very good.

I'm leaning more to the Microfibre Madness Incredipad or Mitt. I hear good things about the Dooka pad, I know Lambswool Mitts are soft and fluffy and generally good on the Paint but I prefer something that doesn't require as much Maintenance, something that I'm sure is going to last me a while.

I try to wash the car at least on a weekly basis and I'm not always able to ensure the Mitt will be Air dried suitably. I can just bung the Microfibre Mitt/pad in the Machine with the rest of my cloth's, dry and be done with it.

I leave my dooka pad wet in the bucket until the following week (or two) and wash it every 2 or 3 months, they still last me 18 months / 2 years
