What to use instead of a sponge?

Featured Replies

As the title says, what is everyone using to wash their car instead of a sponge and is it a lot better?

Microfibre wash mit for me.

Phil

Lambswool mitt if you can get hold of one and take care of it after use

or Asda do some microfibre noodle mitts that are pretty decent for the £1 they cost.

I favour the smaller bright yellow ones that don't have a 'scratchy' rear surface

for scrubbing :o off dead bugs and tar spots. These ones have noodles one side and flat microfibre

the other, Being smaller they are great for doing wheels.

Lambswool wash pad for me too, in conjunction with the 2BM.

dooka wash pad (google it) once you have tried it I doubt you will use anything else.

I have the smaller dooka pad for the wheels as well.

Isn't that a lambswool wash mitt without the glove bit?

Which is incidentally what I use.

Dooka wash pad for me, if funds don't allow then the Adams wash pads from Motorgeek are good.

Basically yes, personally i can’t get on with the mitts.

Another Dooka convert here. I have both too. Best there is IMO.

Is this the only place to buy the Dooka pads? http://dooka.co.uk/dooka-wash-pads

Also what's the best size to go for, small, medium or large? Wanting to use it just for the bodywork as don't mind about the wheels as much.

It's where I got mine. I got the large one for the panels. It's big enough to do the bonnet in 2 halves. Do the one half then flip it over to do the other. It does 2 doors at a time too in the same way. The small wheel one really is worth the tenner. Assuming you've got neptunes it easily goes between the double spokes and is dead easy for getting at the back of the spokes and between the calipers and the wheel. Its the easiest thing I've found for getting into the awkward bits on your alloys.

Ahhhh, the large would be out of stock.

+1 For Adams' washpad drinks more water than the thirtiest of camels  :D

You could give them a call or contact them though their website to see when they'll have them in stock.....

^^^ I would rather use a house brick, it will have the same effect and be cheaper.

Another fan of the Dooka wash pads here.

But as per Grrr666's post above; i have taken to the same style of noodle wash mitt.

Ideal for doing wheels, door shuts, around the engine bay and so on.

Well at that price they are disposable when they are yucky and

can't be brought back to life by washing them any more.

The smaller than average mitt size is very handy (see what I did there ?? :p ) too.

Noodle mit here too. Much better than a sponge

That's because you are not using them right [emoji2]

I think i bought most of his stock; but recommended the link to a few mates too.

Now sold out... he hasnt got any back in stock at that price!!!   :wall:
